Citi Financial Incompetent, corrupt Ashtabula County Nationwide
Our Company did a fire damage repair (complete rebuild) to a homeowner property who had Citi Financial as their mortgage company. In a nutshell, we have been trying to get the balance of our money from Citi Financial for over a year now. It seems they closed the office we were previously dealing with and lost the paperwork. We sent them copies of the documents that we didn't seem to have a problem locating, but they also seem to have misplaced a sizeable amount of the funds so they will not release any of it. I as well as my attorney have been trying to make sense of this situation but it has gotten to the point of complete frustration. One department will tell us that they will give the issue to a supervisor and we hear nothing back, this has happened numerous times. We reach out again and they will pass us on to someone else or give us the wrong phone number.
If Citi Financial is not completely corrupt in their dealings with us than they are completely incompetent. Citi Financial has been holding the balance of the funds that were paid to them from the insurance company, as far as we know they have been collecting mortgage payments from this homeowner and they have been drawing interest (albeit minimal) on money that does not belong to them. Not to mention they now hold the mortgage to a brand new house that puts them in a much better place than they were prior to the loss.
Here is the thing, they are a financial institution, they are supposed to be better at handling funds than the average person, but what we have here is a company that misplaces funds, lost files, does not return phone calls, gives bogus phone numbers the list goes on and worst of all, doesn't seem to care. Do you want someone like this handling your mortgage.
