CIC Credit Monitoring Service - ConsumerInfo.com ripoff billing after cancellation Internet
I signed up for a free credit report with CIC Credit Monitoring Services or ConsumerInfo.com on September 17, 2004. There was a 30 day free trial period, if you cancel within 30 days you are not supposed to be charged.
I sent 2 e-mails, I used a link on their site, on September 22, 2004 to cancel my membership. I sent a CC of the 2nd e-mail to myself. I looked at my credit card statement today (10/22/2004) and of course there is a charge of $9.95 for CIC Credit Monitoring Service, which put me over the limit on my credit card. First thing I did was file a dispute with my credit card company.
I called CIC at 800-220-2626, they told me that they have no record of any e-mails. I told them that I saved the 2nd e-mail which shows the date and e-mail address I sent it to ([email protected]). Finally after arguing, I asked to speak to a manager, which of course they were all busy.
The woman told me I could fax a copy of the e-mail to their Consumer Relations Dept. I asked for a number to speak to a person in the Consumer Relations Dept. and she said that there isn't one. I asked how could it be possible that there isn't a number for their consumers to call their consumer relations department.
She told me I would have to fax a copy of the e-mail and a signed request stating my problem and that the usual time for them to handle the problem is about 30 days. I got fed up, told her to make sure my account was cancelled, not to charge my card again, I will be faxing out the letter and e-mail, and I will keep calling back until this problem is resolved and I receive my credit.
I just faxed out the info, called my credit card company again, and just finishing my report here.
