In late November 2005, I made reservations to stay at a hotel in Poland with CheapTickets.com. When I arrived at the hotel, they had the reservation, but had not receieved any payment. I had to pay them (after having paid CheapTickets) in order to stay in my room.

So I had to pay twice for the same room.

I've called CheapTickets (an international call from my home in Germany, incidentally) several times now, and each time I call I have to explain everything twice. It's clear that they keep no record of such complaints. The sixth time I called, they finally said I would be getting my money back 'after two billing cycles'. More than two months later, still no money.

I just sent an email asking about it, and once again, the person on the other end had no frame of reference for what I was talking about (despite my inclusion of the confirmation number for this purchase) and suggested that the payment was for non-inclusive charges (mini-bar, etc). Again, they clearly keep no record of complaints, and have not done anything about what happened.

I can only advise people to stay away from CheapTickets. Their behavior in this case has been as insulting as it is frustrating, and they have basically ripped me off. Incidentally, I used them once before and they charged me TWICE for a $500 plane ticket. That time I was able to get my money back within a couple weeks, but it goes to show that this kind of incompetence is commonplace for them.
