Cable Company charge premiums, not cheap either, and after a certain hour, the consumer/paying customer's viewing options are the INFOMERTIAL. Another great example, Reid. I never really considered how much money the Infomertial industry pays to Cable companies for the air time. Of course you know what's coming next if Infomertials are threatened by consumer groups. the cable companies will begin their versios of PSA's regarding the increase cost to subscriber/ consumer if the revenue from infomertials are eliminated.

Hey there Lani along with everyone else, I hope that this rebuttal finds you in good spirit and health. I was watching television late night July 4, 2004... and what I noticed kind of pissed me off. It seemed like one third of all the stations had been airing some kind of sorry infomercial. How sad is that? I've seen it all and let me tell you, it was horrifying. I mean vacuum cleaners, diet pills, exercise programs, home based business opportunities, pencil enlargement aides (you know what I meant), etc, etc. I asked myself, what the hell is this world coming to. Our cable company out here charges roughly $60.00 or so each and every month. They should be required to disclose the fact, that many stations will also air PAID fairy tales, that market garbage for products and fraudulent get rich quick schemes. Cable companies should also start offering a $30.00 deal for residents, that wouldn't mind chopping the number of channels they have access to, in half. I mean it's not right for cable companies to market stations, without disclosing the fact, that many of the staions will eventually go off the air sometime during the night and on comes paid programming. They should at very least give consumers the option to iliminate the stations, that air such rubbish and start advertising in a more truthful manner. Example: ESPN/Paid Programming, Disney/Paid Programming, Fox/Paid Programming, etc, etc. Nobody wants a half a*s Disney Channel, half a*s ESPN, half a*s Fitness Channel, you get the picture. If you are going to provide such a half a*s service, you should chop everyones cable bill in half as well. Start filling in empty time slots with old school movies, documentations, music videos, anything but infomercials. If consumers were interested in late night circuses, he or she would rent a Barnum and Bailey's side show freaks DVD. Really, enough already with all the tag team scams. You know what I'm talking about. Infomercial companies(rubbish companies)/credit card companies/cable companies V.S. consumers. Until next time, take care everyone cause I care, Aloha from Hawaii and God Bless. P.S. Cable television is sucking more and more every year. Thank goodness for Play Station, CD boom boxes, DVD's, computers and everthing else technology has to offer.

Aloha Reid, thanks for your reply. you have articulated my suspisions far better than i did. .. yes, the competition and financial incentives for merchant fees are but one example that come to mind. probably many more that i'm unaware of. best for credit card companies to keep these dirty little secrets from the consumer. i think we as consumers are far to uninformed about who credit card companies are willing to do business with, at the consumer's expense. i know my VISA debit card transaction with the unscruplous Fortune Builder that stole money from my checking account will probably result in excess of $100 in overdraft fees that my bank is unwilling to reverse. overdraft fees alone represent a huge cash income for banks=credit card companies. they get us comming and going. i have discovered a connection between Fortune Builder and their related entities, Encore Travel, Easy Saver, Carlton Sheets and a company by the name of LIST SERVICES CORPORATION. LSC maintains a client list and Carlton Sheets and a few of his related companies appear on the client list. curious if the company that ripped you off is also on the list. this website address will take you directly to the LSC's client list. www.listservices.com/clientsmgmt.html thanks for the encourgement and i do plan to pursue it far as i possibly can. BTW, my dad is from Hilo, Hawaii. Aloha

Hey there Lani, I hope that this message finds you in good spirit and health. I'm sorry to hear that you were a victim of this credit card scam. You should dispute the charges immediately, cancel your credit card and open a new account. If I were you, I would at very least, request a new account number. This way you'll be able to determine whether or not, it's your credit card company themselves, who are freely diseminating your account information. I too, have been scammed recently by a fraudulent company named the John Beck Mentoring Institute, John Beck Free and Clear, etc, etc. I disputed the charges with my credit card company, only to be givin the run around for nine and a half months. Bottom line here Lani, is that I wasn't about to pay for the charges anyways. I refuse to pay a cent for a fraudulent offer, contract or not. Credit card companies today are doing far too little to protect consumers from fraudulent activities. The requirement for any business to obtain a merchant account today, is almost nada. So in turn, as far as being legitimate, it proves nothing for a merchant to posses one. There are far too many scams nowadays, due to this fact and also due to the fact, the federal government is spreading their resources far too thin. Even the agencies which give consumers the impression, that they are on the consumers side are becomming less and less bravado toward these fraudulent companies. What the B.B.B?? What a big joke!! Who pays them anyways, the consumers or the very businesses that they're supposed to be babysitting? Case closed!! Nowadays, I don't use credit cards for anything else but emergencies and I wish everyone would do the same. Sometimes I feel that credit card companies are actually aiding fraudulent activites, by having such laxed policies against fraud. There is absolutely no excuse for this many fraudulent activities, no matter how many credit card companies and agencies disagree. It's preposterous. I strongly believe, that if I can't afford to pay something in cash NOW. I probably don't need it anyways. I only keep a few credit cards in my wallet in case of emergencies such as emergency road side service, food, gas, you know the norm... And I sure as hell stay away from infomercials!! LMFAO. You know... all the circus type commercials, that were probably rejected from mainstream television. That's why they went along and produced a half an hour infomercial, that airs at the strangest hours. I used to work in retail, and believe me, all of those crappy products eventually end up on store shelves. Well anyways, I'm done ranting for now. Lani, I hope that you're able to resolve this issue. Please write again to keep everyone informed about this scam. Keep writing until this is resolved to the absolute best of your satisfaction. Don't ever give up, like far too many people do. When the conflict is finally resolved overseas, our troops return home... and America is finally restored to it's normal and fully functional operation, you may rest assured, that many of these fraudulent companies, will scatter like the cockroaches that they are. Until next time, take care Lani and every one else, cause I care, Aloha from Hawaii and God Bless. P.S. Keep in touch!!
