Blakeslee House Bed And Breakfast - Blakeslee House -Blakeslee Inn Ripoff Misrepresent no services rendered no hot water insulted belligerent lacking hospitality, no privacy Marcellus New York
Our experience at the Blakeslee House B&B: Absolutely Appalling! We left within an hour. We arrived to a run down exterior, a wooden B&B sign knocked over, and a blackface statue at the door this was disconcerting though we had saved up to afford this and decided to give the benefit of the doubt. Their website pictures led us to expect high standards.
Dave immediately ran my credit card before asking if everything was suitable, before we had brought our luggage in. We found the room less than private, directly off of their living room, it was clear that this was the house they lived in and it felt quite awkward for us. He then sat right outside our room eating a muffin in his recliner. The room advertised "...romantic luxurious bath with an oval Jacuzzi garden tub for two..." in reality it offered a dish of an old hardened conglomerate of bath salts that had an obvious divot from previous users, soaps and lotions half empty, and a dingy rubber ducky atop the pile of "high thread count towels," that weren't. The his and hers cotton robes advertised as included in the room were sloppily hung on their hangers and again, showed their age. Uncomfortable to the point where we felt the need to whisper in our room, and noting the picture of Grandma hidden behind the artificial plant on the armoire, we felt like we were in someone's bedroom, not in a guest room.
This was where they lived, their daily mail and bills lay on the counter, and a multitude of family pictures and portraits were on the piano and walls. Trying to make the best of it, and since all we wanted was a Jacuzzi in which to relax, I ran the hot water only to be confused why he wouldn't warn us that we would soon find (after he had left the premises) that NO faucet in the house had even lukewarm water. NO hot water! How would we even shower let alone relax in what? An ice cold Jacuzzi?!
It was so awful I couldn't imagine staying even a moment more, the smell of the place was old and tired. We packed up and left a message requesting a refund if only partial. When we spoke on the phone he quickly became belligerent. He claimed that there was hot water now! (hours later) and he even admitted that he heard you turning it on and off, did you know how to use it?! Yes, I know how to work a faucet, but he heard us having trouble and did not help, he left. There was no remorse, no apologies.
After contacting the BBB and my credit card company, Mr. Blakeslee's responses argued that I was young and unexperienced which is why I was upset, recounted a false list of events to the BBB, and only had the argument that I was too young and told the BBB he was sorry it had to come to this as if I was expecting to much to have hot water and a hospitable host! Their site is misleading, pictures lie. Please do not waste your money, they are discriminatory of race, and age and mixed couples. He even wrote in his response to the BBB that their little black man has greeted many people with no complaintswell he proves my point.
