I purchased wireless service through Best Buy with Verizon and was talked into purchasing their Geek Squad service protection. I've had the device one month, went to a family reunion the weekend of August 30th and my phone was stolen out of my purse. I called Geek Squad to file a claim and was immediately told that the service plan didn't cover lost or stolen devices. This is a $700.00 phone who would sell insurance without covering items that are this expensive?

Verizon Wireless hands are tied because I didn't purchase insurance through them. This deception needs to be stopped! It's apparent that Best Buy nor the wireless carriers are concerned about consumers, they are only concerned about the bottom dollar. Best Buy shouldn't be allowed to offer service plans unless they are comparable to what others carry or better and they should educated the consumer and make sure that the consumer makes the decison that is better suited for them.

Phone theft is a big business since there are all kinds of websites on the internet that will pay hundreds of dollars for devices without checking to make sure they are legit. Merchants, wireless providers, insurance, local, state, and federal government all need together to make it harder for thieves to get away with stealing!
