Was gettign gas at today at the Shell on the I-35 and 18th Street intersection today, and after pumping I was approached by a red rodeo, or vehicle body similiar to. White guy driving, seemed nice, passenger was mexican, quiet and didnt say a word the entire time. White guy asked me if I wanted to check out some speakers, quickly let me know he worked for some store in austin and told me he'd pull off to the side. After eventually getting gas, I walked over to the side where he parked.

He had 2 entertainment systems boxed up, and 2 Audiofile 583LR in boxes also, taped up and seems factory. He said his boss ordered too many, and didnt realize it. Mentioned he wanted to sell them and make some quick cash real quick before heading back to austin. Kept asking me how much cash I had on me, was going to give both Audiofile speakers for $200, but said $130 was a deal for one. Scam artist even had a brochure, showed me the same model and everything saying how as a pair worth over $1,000. Showed me the receipt even from "picking them up" earlier in the day. Kept saying how great a deal it would be for me, and i convinced myself they were that price and I'd just go onto ebay and sell them for $500 and make a quick investment.

The white guy has closely shaved hair, was wearing a red jersey, with gold necklaces. Was shorter than I was, so maybe 5'9. The license plate I couldnt make out, but had orange color in the middle of the background picture on it. I am seriously pissed that i had such a thing misrepresented in value.

I am sure the company is not to blame, as i am sure an 18-wheeler full of these were stolen, or the speakers arent even real and doesnt even work (what i've read from other forums on this topic.)

Do I need to file a police report, I am sure they are long out of here by now. Anyone have any suggestion on what actions i have availabe to take?

Hi, I am from NJ and up here we call it the white van speaker specials . They come off politie and tell you they work for abc company and they had extra speakers they couldnt sell and you will get a huge discount . What they do is r3eplace the cones and woffer in the speakers with "audiovox" or worse spreakers but you cant tell because when you remove the dust covers all you see is the actual cones . Sorry to say it was a lesson hard learned . If you want good speakers go to a audio store or if you dont want to spend alot go to a walmart or some sort of chain store
