My husband is a victim of unfair practices by Advanta Bank Corp. with offices in Salt Lake City, Utah and also Spring House PA.
They solicited his business and offered him a low rate for his business with a Platinum Business Card. They would keep sending him checks to use too. His interest rates have escalated continually. He called several times. When it reached 35% he called again and spoke with a female who said that they would get back with him. This never happened.
After receiving the Oct. bill he called again and they said to write a letter to the hardship dept. which was faxed on Friday Nov. 14th. He followed up to be sure it was received and the nightmare continued from there. They claim they sent an Opt Out letter which he never received. We have seen over 200 complaints from others that never received any opt out letter too. He goes through all mail personally.
Jan. - Feb. 2008 Interest 9.99%
March 2008 Interest increased to 18.74%
April 2008 - Sept. 2008 remained 18.84%
Sept. 2008 Interest increased to 35.08%
Oct. 2008 Interest increased to 36.31%
Nov. 2008 Interest increased to 37.18%
Total of overcharged interest amounts about $3,700. He has excellent credit and has never been late. They have no legitimate reason for raising his rate.
Today he spoke with Jacob Hamilton with who said he was sent an Opt-Out notice in Aug. that he NEVER REC'D. Jacob was very arrogant on the phone.
