I broke with StorageMart a few days ago because they treat their customers as garbage. And it is not only about significant increasing of rent every few months, but also about their hard cord rudness and disrespect of customers rights to have normal (not even great) customer service. I was at their location at 543 W 43rd St, NY from December 2021. I transferred my personal items there from their Chelsea (NYC) facility. I got the 3rd (top) level locker 4'×4'×4' and was using it for about a year. I am in my 60's, and I felt it was difficult and dangerous using their often chaking ladders claiming to the top, every time I needed to reach my locker unit. I decided to switch to the middle, 2nd level, same size locker. I reserved it online, as usual, confirmed in person that it was available, and then came to relocate my items. Surprizingly, despite my official reservation was there, employee Lawrence Turk (a male in his 70's, with white hair) told me that they DID NOT HAVE free middle level lockers 4'×4'x4'. He assigned to me instead without my confirmation super small locker, something about 4'x4'×2'. He said: you wanted unit 4'×4'. I was shocked. All my items were already out of my old locker and HE SAW that they would NEVER fit to 4'x4'×2' space! He was mocking me, nothing else. Then, he suggested to put my stuff back to same my old locker. I refused. Then he assigned to me another top level locker #1-11-21. My attempt to get the middle level locker ended up with nothing, but moving the heavy boxes out and in back to 3rd top level locker. It was comedic tragedy. I was with this storage company for more than 15 years. I was relocating periodically my items to different locations/lockers several times (prior reserving them online), but such nonsense thing never happened to me! Emlloyee Lawerence Turk did not let me to relocate my stuff to officially reserved middle level locker!!? I had to continued struggling claiming their shaking ladders stairs in my 60's to reach my top unit.

In the meanwhile, they continued raising my locker rent significantly and chaotically, often in 6-10 months. In December 2021, I paid for it $41.00. In May 2022, its rent became $48. In May 2023, they raised rent to $56.99.

About month ago I decided to make another attempt to relocate my items from the top to middle level locker unit. I went to office and had a conversation with same Laurence Turk about renting of the middle level locker. He told me some inflated price, much higher than I paid for my top unit. I told him it was too expensive and left. That was a shocking surprize for me, when next month, right after this our conversation, my locker rent immediately went up $12. This March rent of my value 3rd level locker (#1-11-21) became  $68.99! This time rent went up in 10 months after the previous raise. It was impossible to ignore this bullying and scam any more. I removed all my items from StorageMart (unit #1-11-21) on March 13, 2024. An employee Lawrence Turk promised to email me the closing receipt, but he did not email it to me. I paid the March rent for the locker $68.99 up front, they owe me a refund for 17 days of March because I left their facility earlier, on March 13. And I do not want to leave to these bullies no one penny.

However their employee Laurence Turk said they owe me NOTHING. I disagree. They owe me a lot: the good customer service, the middle level locker that I did not get, and refund for 17 days of March after paying ridiculous $68.99 up front for using their top level locker.

PS: In the meanwhile, the StorageMart website promotes same size lockers at this location for $28.99.

A few years ago, the ManhattanMini storage was acquired by StorageMart together with its employees.
