Complaint Review: The Movement LA Fashion Week LLC - LOS ANGELES CA

Kisha and i were friends, i considered her my mentor and someone i could talk to for business advice. I thought Kisha and i would be glued to the hip forever up until July / August of 2023, I expressed my concearns with Kisha directly regarding me being the opening designer for her November show. I did 2 other shows previously with Kisha Waters and The Movement LA, but the last show i did with her in March of 2023 was not the best result whatsoever. i called her out on a few things that went wrong, one big one was changing the venue a week before the show. I'm probably the first fashion designer who backed out of Kisha's most recent fashion show which took place on 11/11/2023. There were a few things that she promised that i felt were too good to be true, considering my last experience from her last show i did with her in March. 

For THIS Novemeber 11th Show, she promised a big sponsor who's a car company based in Detroit would be helping with the show. and a major shoe and athletic company would gift a designer of their choice with a $3000 grant, she also promised that the show would be aired on a streaming platform that started out as a DVD rental company. She also promised that any of the designers in this show would automatically be in her show that she is doing in the Middle East. which yeah my idiot self thought " okay this is her way of making things right from the last show, by trying to do things bigger and better this could be it!" afrter all she's been doing Fashion shows for over 11 or 12 years.

In August i told her that i did not feel too comfortable doing her show and so i need to back out and ask for my deposit back. She told me that i would not be receiving my $1050.00 deposit back until 5-10 business days after her November 11th Fashion show. I never heard of such a process being so lengthy, but again because i thought we were friends and i trusted her word, i agreed to wait for the deadline she gave me.  I sent reminder emails and no response was received from neither Kisha or her supposed assistant. After her Fashion Show, which i attended and showed support, I sent Kisha invoices and reminders but did not receive any response until around Thanksgiving Holiday. She had her " assistant" responding to my emails saying that my messages was forwarded to Kisha and i should hear back from her soon. Thats literally the same response i KEPT getting over and over. I kept texting and calling Kisha but her phone kept going straight to voicemail, i later found out that i was blocked. i even called her from a different number and when she heard my voice she immediately hung up and blocked that number too. s

December came and i was still constantly going back and forth through emails and DM's and still no refund received. Just the same old " you will hear back from "Kisha or myself soon." Once i threatened to sue, i was immediately blocked on social media. Kisha had BOTH of my cell phone numbers. I was easily contacted by her directly when she kept asking for my money. and as soon as i backed out of her show, she put me, her "friend" off to the side like i'm a random person/ stranger who was only allowed to communicate with her so called " assistant ". I will never do business with her again.
