Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I worked for household retail services for 3 years. All the complaints on here are infact true. I will reveal in this email some of the ripoffs household currently does.

When you fill out an application they either (a) use a former address listed on the application or use your credit report to pull up a former address and use that for your billing statements so you will get more fees.

They have differant promotion expire dates and cycle due dates so you will be charged all the back finance fees that have occured with your promotion.

I will also tell you a few secrets to getting around dealing with these people. If you dont want the collection calls you can either tell them you dont want the call recorded,at that point they can no longer talk to you about the account, even for outgoing calls or tell them you arent the cardholder but you are the owner of the phone and you dont wish to receive calls

To get fees removed. household has a policy where you can request 1 late fee and 1 direct check fee removed a year,if the person you are speaking to doesnt waive it, ask for a supervisor and they will remove it

The report filled out buy Carly would be false. Retail services does not use an old address intentionally. However, in their attempts to reduce fraud or to "catch it" early they will use an address listed as current on a customers credit report when the account is first opened. When I first started working there I thought it was a strange policy but have found it does reduce fraud and it does also catch it earlier than if credit cards and statements were going to a third party address. The reason promotion expiration dates are different than cycle dates are because 6 months from a purchase date of 01/01/2005 would be 07/01/2005. The billing (or cycle) date on the account is the same every month once it is selected when the account is opened. The bill is always due 25 days after the cycle date except Costco is 23 days after the cycle date. Remember, your purchase is 6 months same as cash. It is not 6 months from your next due date. Besides, the big PROMOTION EXPIRATIION ALERT on the statements 3 months before a promotion expires would clarify it for those who were not aware of the above. As far as the late fee, it is removed 1 time in 12 months provided your payment is within 10 days of the date due and if the account is current at the time requested, provided that your account is open. If it's a closed account, it will not be removed. Direct check fees are not waived at all unless your account is more than 15 days delinquent and you pay the account off. Asking for a supervisor and explaining a situation sometimes can get a fee or finance charge removed "out of policy". However, it will not be done if you are rude or abusive. When speaking with reps remember that being a jerk is not going to get you anywhere. If the rep is not able to do it and you still insist, go up the chain requesting supervisors and managers. A unit manager is the person who makes the final decision and can "think outside the box". Going higher than that is a rare possibility but the unit managers decision will still stand so you are waisting your own time after that.

nancy back when I first started working there about 3 years ago they were a lot better but in the past year or so it got worse, I decided that job wasnt for me because I have morals. I couldnt work for a company who treats people like that. They would have us borderline lie to customers and if you didn't you would get in trouble if the call was monitored.

RU the same Carly that defended "Household" for the past 3 or 4 years? I'm curious about the change of jobs. We predicted a massive restructure and downsizing with the jobs going to the middle and far east after the HSBC acquisition of Household International. I sincerely hope you were able to make the choice yourself and were not unprepared for the change. I've helped research and maintain an informative site for several years now. www.householdwatch.com includes a forum for insiders (employees or former employees). You may post there or contact our group directly with any additional information. Best wishes in your new career. If you are the same Carly as mentioned, I commend your loyalty to your former employer, even if I feel it was undeserved and misguided.
