Quite simply a sales person will call and ask if you will meet with one of their sales reps that is selling advertising space on television monitors in crowded restaraunts. In our case it was Beef o brady's, the sales rep will come to your place of business at the appointed time and give you the usual BS sales pitch that includes showing you the following demonstration video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bQe7uHk2js. In our case we figured we would give it a shot as it was only $3.00 a day and sounded like a somewhat unique idea.
Once you agree you have to pay $150.00 ad creation fee (this should have been the first red flag), but art fees in business are not wholley unusual. Regardless the cost for us was to be $120 per month as we would be taking two locations and getting a discount for the second one. At some point after the sales guy leaves, an art guy will contact you and will hurridly try and slap together a trashy ad and push it on you. After going back and forth numerous times we finally got the proof we wanted and were told the ad would begin to appear within the week.
Needless to say 2 months later the ad is still not showing and our company is out around $400 in ad fees and art creation.
We called the listed numbers and reached a guy named Keith who stated he was super busy because he had "over 1000 customers" but did know that there was a problem with their software not updating and showing new ads. He said to email him a copy of the business name and he would get the issue resolved. That was a month ago and now no one at the company will return our calls and the ad is still not showing.
Live and learn I suppose, the amount will not break us, but it is enough to piss us off for having been scammed.
To other small business owners Your AD TV is a scam.. They just want your money (unsuprisingly) and you willl be pretty much screwed when your ad does not appear as promised. If you get the sales call or the rep shows up, feel free to tell them to get the F out and point them to this ad. If you are bound and determined to piss away $400 or so for absolutely no reason, then go ahead..
AGAIN YOUR AD TV IS A SCAM..
