I purchased a Weslo Cadance 80 treadmill on sale from Sears. It was the least expensive model they carried. I only used it for less than 75 hrs at a walking speed of 3 miles per hour. It no longer runs for more than 5 minutes before turning off. I can restart and again goes off in approx 5 minutes. I cannot reach Weslo by any of the numbers and my warranty was for only 90 days and I have had it for just over 90 days. This is a ripoff. Do not buy this machine.

Dear Susan, I am a service technitian for ICON Health & Fitness, the manufacturer of the Weslo treadmill mentioned in this review. Part of my job is to find complaints online and try to resolve them to the customer satisfaction. The problem you are describing sounds like a fairly common one on treadmills. I am surprised it happened as early as you described though. Your motor has a safety mechanism built onto it called a thermal switch. The thermal switch shuts the motor off, or occassionall depending on the motor, slows it down when it's reaching that critical point. Typically if your thermal switch is tripping it's a simple fix. First, you want to make sure any person or people using it are not over the weight limit of the motor (I belive your model is 250 lbs) Your machine may handle it for a while, but eventually it will have problems, just like how your car might run 100 mph... but it's not made to do it all the time. Secondly, you want to check your walking belt for lubrication. It should have an oily residue on the underside of your walking belt. YOu can check this just by lifting on the edge of your belt, sliding your hand in with your palm up and feeling the belts underside. If it's dry it may need lubrication. Be sure NOT to use silicone sprays (like WD-40) or pastes to lubricate it. If it still occurs, check the tension of the walking belt. You should be able to lift it's edges 2-4 inches depending on the persons weight. You want your belt on the looser side, but not so loose that it's slipping. Your manual shows how to loosen the belt. It takes 1 allen wrench adjusting 2 bolts to do so. If it STILL occurs your motor belt might be too tight as well. All that's needed to address that is removing the motor hood (again see the manual) and then adjusting two bolts on the back of the motor. Most motors are mounted on a bracket and can pivot up and down to loosen or tighten your motor belt. There are usually 1 or 2 bolts on the back of the motor going through crescent shaped holes. If those are loosened then the motor will pivot up or down. Push down to tighten the belt and pull up to loosen it.
