I just read your report and was curious as to how long you had been driving for Werner. All of the dates used are Very recent and if your claim is that driving a truck for a year or two..or worse a few months.. has completely removed the cartilage out of both of your hips...
Then I say that you are part of the Problem..Not the solution!! You are the reason that Trucking companys deny claims to people that actually got injured By working!!
Now that you cant get a free paycheck from a company you are going to rant and rave about what a bad company Werner is. Shame on you!
If you have a 15 or 20 year driving history with Werner then I do Apologize..But, then again I also know that if you had been with them that long you would have said so!

Hey there Smoke, thanks for the response. I hear your complaints and I want to take a second to address them, not justify them, so please hear me out and dont take it in that way. There is some truth to your story, but not all of it. You are going hear drivers talk bad about most companies. Especially the big Co's. Let me ask you this...did you inform the safety department of your complaints? Or did you just go to the SDM? I know FOR A FACT that when you take safety complaints to the safety department, they are handled. Perhaps not in the way you would like or feel some kind of peace of mind about, but they are addressed. Werner employs over 11000 people. 70% of that being Drivers. Does werner have some bad seed in the company? Sure, as does every other company. Do we have bad trainers? Sure, like any other training company. Without the feedback from the student drivers, there is no defense. Do we have some bad students that have no business behind the wheel of a Rig, also true. But driving schools will give just about anyone a CDL, and it seems to get easier and easier to obtain one, and with that, Werner is one of the companies that is taking a chance with their equipment and safety record, to give people a chance in this industry when most companies wont touch a CDL holder without at least a year OTR and immaculate Safety record. As far as our 'vet' drivers you speak of, I know plenty of old timers that have no problem whatsoever telling anyone how they feel. Whether its a director, fleet manager, ANYONE. And guess what, they still have their jobs, and will keep their jobs as long as they continue to be the great drivers we all know they are.. These are just my opinons, but I wanted to let you know that I wasnt trying to justify what happened to you. Their are a lot of students and drivers that get the shaft with a lot of big companies. As I said before, best to you and hope you find what your looking for.

Hey Jenna, Smoke here. . My story IS straight and true. I've commented on other reports of other drivers also. My story is one of trying to obtain Workman's Comp because the driving of these t/t's with the clutching and bumps hit (there isn't 1 smooth bridge in the USA) and them denying me my comp because of a Pre-existing condition. That is MY story. My responses/comments to the other reports are strictly from some of the reports I've heard from other drivers at other terminals or on the road at TA's or wherever. Alot of Weiner drivers know just what everyone is reporting about in here. They are not lies, they are truths! I know for a fact that trainees DO NOT always get their trucks after 300 hours. I know for a fact that trainees work their asses off while their trainers lie in the bunk and sleep and get paid for miles driven by the trainees. I know for a fact that there are alot of trainers out there that are ONLY trainers for the money! I know for a fact that VI's are NOT carried out by all the trainers on a daily basis. What more do you want. I would just love to be on the road and evaluate the trainer! I suggested it to my DSM after having one who, evaluated me while sleeping, during the day driving, with his head behind the drivers seat. Questioning him about it, his response was, I know what you're doing and not doing. After asking a Weiner driver how he liked working for Weiner, he said it is a job, I deliver my loads, pick up another and get my paycheck every Friday. Case closed after that. This company will not tolerate any of its employees bad mouth them and the vet drivers know it. If they say something, Weiner gets rid of them, puts a negative comment on their DAC's (no hire anywhere else) and puts a fresh piece of meat in the truck. It's a money thing, and only money, that Weiner cares about! Hirees are a dime a dozen in a rotating door. This company is SCUM. Weiner cares is nothing but BS. I wish I were allowed to go to the school I went to and listen again to the recruiter give his speech and pull out some of these reports to have him respond to, I've asked the school, but, as you can imagine, they wouldn't let me. So, more "wannabe" students join the ranks of other used wannabe's. It's a sad, sad deal from what I thought was going to be a great second career for me. Now if you have any other questions/comments to ask me about, feel free, I check this EVERYDAY. Smoke!

I am currently in the 2nd appeals stage with Werner/DMI Just so you know first of all Werner wont be on your legal documents as DMI is the division that hired you which absolves the Werner name from being in Workman's compensation lawsuits. They'll denied everything, will continue to deny everything and will look at every medical report you have from as far back as you can remember. Then try to use it against you. You can't stop this, its permissible. They will hire someone to follow you, wait outside your house and record where you go, what you do and then send the video to the attorneys at Werner. They followed me for 6 hours. If you go to court they might try to settle, they offered me less than 60k. My medical bills have nearly quadrupled that amount. They could not pay me enough money for the countless hours I lay in pain wondering how I am going to make it another day. They don't compensate you for the lack of activities you used to do, the stress an injury causes mentally, financially and physically. State of Omaha does not pay you for pain and suffering and you only get benefits for 300 weeks if your not 80%+ disabled. Good luck on that one, the doctors wont allow me to drive a truck and I struggle every year with my state to just to keep my personal vehicle drivers license by having to take a drivers test. yet I still only got 50% If they offer a really decent settlement with a medical account to pay your bills and your pretty happy with it consider you wont have to deal with Werner/DMI any more. I took the go to court route and got most of everything, vocational rehab, but it didn't help pay my bills and my checks each week are difficult to live on. I am also still in appeals, they will fight everything. Getting approval on future medical procedures suck and you will have to continue working with getting approved and the fight. I filed in the end of 06, I am in high court appeals as I won most but appealed others which could mean another year or so before anything happens. Be very honest, don't lie at any point. Werner has a very good attorney and picks up on things easily. I misunderstood a question and answered it slightly off of my original statement months before not intentional or a lie, but it was brought up as questionable if I was telling the truth or not. Don't give up, they will tire you out where you will just want to throw in the towel and walk away. They have endless resources and time which your bills and other issue will usually cause you to settle for anything even if its a scrap. Make a payment of any sort on your medical bills and even if they say you have to make a minimum payment just send in 10 or 15 a month. Goodluck
