To whom-ever reads this, after it was all said and done, I would be making .14 cpm but deduct .01 from that for being on diem, thats what Elizabeth M. Sund out of Springfield, Oh terminal told me at test out. Actually 30% of the .14 goes to diem, yea, I actually pulled out the calculator the figure it out. Driver Recruiting/Placement says its .06 cpm, the handbook says .12 but I think thats if your getting 36-40 cpm.

"If you are enrolled in per diem, 12 cents of your pay or almost 1/3 can be non-taxable." Straight from the handbook!

So if your only at 13 cpm, 1/3 of that mmmmm roughly .04!

500 miles $20.00

1000 miles $40.00

1500 miles $60.00

We obviously see a trend here, drive your but off for squat, when you add home bills and rent, not to mention 20.00 a week for the school loan Werner doesn't cover and the 70.00 for insurance that you get in the first 30 days, for me thats at least $400.00 I have to take home after these deductions.

5000 miles gives me $200.00 in diem, thats promised, supposedly I know, and thats if you run that many miles. I made a mistake joining Werner in Jan 09, not making the 2nd one by driving for pocket change.

Hey ya'll, Smoke here. Madmax has hit on another true deal about Werner Enterprises, you know, the company "That Cares". You drive your butt off for almost nothing and they just keep pushing and pushing. Just a few words to tell all of those prospective new recruits to stay away from WE. I happened to run into the trainer and 3 recruits in a truck and told each and every one of them to go to this site and READ the comments from ya'll. They had questions and I simply told them to READ THE WEB SITE. Hopefully, they won't make the same mistake that Madmax and I, and many others, made. Every one be safe.... Smoke.

Madmax....these figures just don't make sense. Per diem is simply money that is not taxed. But the way I read this, you're only making .13 cpm, with .04 going to per diem. No way. If you're making, say, .30 per mile, and .06 is per diem, that just means you're taxed on the .24 and not on the .06, but you're getting paid .30 for all the miles, not just .06. I know, because I was on per diem for a time with my company. If you take per diem, you don't have the same deductions at tax time as you would if you took the straight mileage pay, but some don't care about that. It's really personal preference, as some company's per diem packages are better than others, in that some charge an administrative fee, some don't, etc. It just sounds to me like either you didn't understand the entire concept, or didn't present it correctly here. Just my observation.
