Complaint Review: VisionMax - Santa Rosa California

  My heart dropped when my girlfriend googled my brand new system I got on craigslist (projector, surround, DVD & screen)and this came up. I was literally heart broken and so what was I going to do with it I couldnt sell it.

I wanted to see if it would even work so I spent the next five hours trying to make it work and it would'nt and I was so pissed until my girlfriend showed me the power button on the back of the units. It all turned on everything worked great except I think the guy is right about it being 5.1 but not full surround but for the money I paid ($ 850) I really couldnt be happier because I have a full home theatre (92" screen) and it looks and sounds awesome...so would I do it again but next time have the guy hook it up for me first.

  There's your clue.   This appears to be the Craigslist version of guys who sell junk systems for high prices in parking lots.   One of the reasons this works is that the boxes have some ridiculously high MSRP prominently printed on the box.  The sucker thinks he's getting a great deal, when in fact he's buying some cheap knockoff junk for much more than it's worth.

   Go to a store and look at real high end equipment from leading manufacturers.  Do you see any big "MSRP" on the boxes?  Of course not.  The only ones who need to do this are the scammers.   That's the tipoff.

         That or these people have never seen a nice system, or they don't want to feel like they were ripped off.   You're in no way getting full 5.1 surround, because these can not provide that.     They have NO decoders, if any thing they just blare the same sound out of every speaker.

   These companies use the CHEAPEST parts they can source. They are all made to sound like bigger and better companies. The specs are wrong, and they can also damage your equipment.   I've never seen crappier stuff made to be honest.   It's a shiny turd if any thing.

   I guess if you're happy with it, then that's all that matters. Sad, that you could of spent $250 at walmart and prob picked up something better. 

I bought this brand new off a guy on craigslist and could not be more pleased with my purchase. I hooked it up four months ago and it has all the components and features. I believe the mixup may be with the guys selling knockoffs out of vans in parking lots and sellings rocks in the boxes. My friend bought a system off them and it didn't have the receiver so yea I would not buy out of a van. My friend scared me telling me I got burned until he saw my system and was completely shocked. I paid 1350 for a Visionmax projector, screen and home theatre system and it is awesome. My friend has a Sony Surround and Optoma projector he paid 3500. Mine blows it away  and he begrudgingly agrees. I would suggest not buying from some guy out of a van in a gas station like he did but for me I would do it all over again! The way you can tell is the knockoffs don't have any stickers of authenticity on them and come in plain brown boxes and mine had original packaging, plugs, wires and stickers. 

Hey I bought one of these too!! I paid about $1000 for the projector and surround sound. For the money I couldnt beat what I got. It worked completley fine and the picture quality was good. The Surround Sound worked with the projector and I had a full 5.1 surround sound with a projector. I cant complain, I got my moneys worth.

VisionMax, aka Paramax and formerly known as T R Theater Research Inc., imports extremely terrible home theater equipment, from projectors to surround sound and screens, from China. Then they price these faulty wares outrageously, usually quoting several thousand dollars.

Then they enlist flunkies to sell these wares online at craigslist, ebay, etc. The flunkies give a spiel about having won the item in a raffle or been gifted it from a relative. They don't need the item, so they're willing to let it go for a greatly reduced price.

It all sounds legit until you get the product home and notice missing or extremely faulty features, functioning and craftsmanship. There's no way these products are worth nearly what the MSRP sticker claims, and they know this.

Don't ever buy anything from VisionMax, Paramax or T R Theater Research Inc.
