US Patent and Trademark Office Has Apparently Closed Its Doors
In August, 1999, I ordered a patent description from the US Patent and Trademark Organization (USPTO). I made a mistake on the first entry (missing a digit), but they provide no way to back out a mistake; I subsequently ordered the correct patent number, and they promptly debited my credit card for both entries. As of January 14, 2000, I have yet to receive anything from the USPTO, despite several emails and a fax. They got their money, but continue to ignore me.

It is 2012 now and the US Patent & Trademark Office is still open and has been continuously since 1911

To get up to date contact information for them, go to their website which is easily found by Googling USPTO - make sure you go for the link that ends in "gov". I have been doing web searches on issued patents at that website since 1994 and can assure you that that link that I have mentioned how to find, has always been active any time of the day or night that entire time so I am totally confident that the US Patent and Trademark Office is still in existence. The actual brick and mortar buildings that they are located in have moved from Arlington, VA to Alexandria, VA sometime between 1994 and now, though. I lived in Arlington, VA between 1990 and 1994 so I know that the USPTO was in Arlington, VA during that time.
