I opened a checking account with US Bank because they offered a no monthly service fee. I deposited $500.00 into the account, and received a monthly statement that made me faint --  $603.00 in the hole! Over $400.00 of this was overdraft charges!

They forced my ATM card to process transactions with a negative balance so that they could stack up the overdraft charges! For example: I bought a cup of coffee for $5.85 and was charged $36.00 overdraft; I bought a book for $21.84 and was charged $36.00; I bought a taco for $5.85 and was charged $36.00; I bought another cup of coffee for $3.99 and was charged $36.00. All this in one day!

The next day was more of the same. Finally, I was no longer able to charge any more on my ATM card so I stopped using it.

I had no idea that funds were unavailable since I was able to use the card. THey later explained to me that some opt to charge box was checked!!!

It may have been checked, but they did not explain the consequences of the checked box, especially when they implied that it only pertained to CHECK WRITING and not ATM use! Luckily I did not close my other account with another bank!!!

I am really pissed off! Is there anyone else out there who was not explained adaquately the consequences of the US bank's overdraft policies? THESE B******* HAVE TO BE STOPPED!

Instead of acting like an ADULT you act like a spoiled 2 year old brat who wants to blame everyone else and not take responsiblity for their (lack) of action.

 I bought a cup of coffee for $5.85 and was charged $36.00 overdraft;

- So what did your written register show when you went to charge this cup of coffee?  Let me guess you have NO idea because you don't keep one.  I am sure if you gave the FULL story it would do nothing but show how you were totally irresponsible and deserve each and every one of the overdraft fees you were assessed.

They forced my ATM card to process transactions with a negative balance so that they could stack up the overdraft charges!

- Gee and just how did they FORCE your ATM card to do that?  Did they have one of their "enforcers" behind you in line at the coffee shop and forced you at Gun Point to take the card out of your wallet and use it to purchase the coffee?  No...even though that probably fits better into your blame game, the fact is that you used the card of your own 100% free will.

Finally, I was no longer able to charge any more on my ATM card so I stopped using it.

- And there it is...Proof that you do NOT manage your account and expect everyone else to tell you when you have no money.   So yes the rest of your story is BS, and contrary to what you say I am pretty sure you had a serious overdraft problem with your other bank as well.

Normally I would give suggestions on how to properly manage your account so you could avoid even one Overdraft fee, but with some people it is just a lost cause...too bad but I hope you have fun at your next bank and we will be waiting for your next RipOff report.

THE HUSTLERS OF US BANK

You sound like the hustler in a pool hall. "It is only your own fault that the guy tricked you into thinking that you are as good as he is, only to take your bank roll."  I admit, the US BANK HUSTLED me into thinking that I had something other tan what they offered!!! Yes it is my fault for putting that money in that CURSED institution. I WISH I NEVER HEARD OF THAT BANK!!!

I''ve been a customer of a local bank for over twenty years, and you know how many overdraft charges I have had with them over those years? Less than half of what I had with US BANK in one month. The question is why those SCAM ARTIST HUSTLERS ARE ALLOWED TO DO THIS TO ORDINARY PEOPLE, and then turn around and say: "It is your fault because you were not careful enough! Too bade for you!"

I believe that it is time that someone put an end to US BANK's defrauding the public of millions of dollars in unjust yearly overdraft charges!!!

I am going to start a class action suit. Let me know if anyone out there feels unjustly treated by US BANK!!!

I call BS on your story. YOU KNEW YOU DID NOT HAVE THE FUNDS!!! If you dropped $500.00 then YOU spent $500.00. The fault is with you. YOU ASSUMED!! A debit purchase is STILL a form of check. ANY activity is considered use. So your problem is that they charged you for useing THEIR money when you had NONE AVAILABLE and its somehow magically their fault.

Stop trying to find ANYONE ELSE to blame and accept the fact that YOU did not keep an accurate track of your funds. And dont try and pull that "they didnt tell me". They told you and you agreed to this. To sit there and BLAME the bank for YOUR mistake is foolish. The next thing youre going to attempt to fire back with is "they should have told me to stop spending". WHY SHOULD THEY DO THIS?? THEY are not accountablr for what YOU spend, YOU ARE!!
