Janice, That iis typical of the USPS carriers, can't even get a persons name right. How many people's mail do you also get wrong? His name is James not Greg. and Kenneth was the initial complaintant.

I mailed the insured package($200) to Houston the day after Thanksgiving. Following Monday it arrives at the customer's house, sliced open with the item removed and resealed. Called that 1-800 number to file a complaint, got a complaint number and someone from the po was suppose to call me back in 24 HOURS. BS, month and a half go by and I've called the local station and got one set of directions on how to file. Go to the po web site and get a different set of directions on how to file and what form to file. 2/17/05, appox 2.5 months later, I take the form into the local station, where the package was mailed from, speak with the clerk who handles the claims, who tells me I have the wrong forms and the customer who received the EMPTY package should have gone to her local station and started the process. What a line of BS. Now, 2.5 months later, I have to call the customer back and have her go to her station and start the claim. By the f.....g way, over the Xmas season I sent out over a dozen packages FedEx. Cost those theiving bastards several hundred dollars in business. I told you about the po clerk here in SA who got busted. He was putting preprinted labels, with his name and home address, over the top of the original labels, so the packages would be delivered to his house. An honest postal worker turned him in to the postal inspectors, can we say reward. So watch out about mailing stuff with the usps. And these guys want MORE money, higher fees. I don't think so.

Well even though the carrier agreed that she made a mistake leaving the package in the lobby, since it never had the "leave if no response", she was willing to pay for it. I told her the cost, however, by the time I saw her again, Buy.com decided that they were honoring the claim and sent me a replacement. Great customer service on Buy.com's part.

Your carrier and PO are wrong. I work for the postal service. We as carriers have to have written permision to leave packages at peoples houses/apartments. If we leave a package and we do not have permission to leave it and the package shows up missing, the carrier is responsible to replace the item or pay for it. I would go to your po and raise this issue with them. If hat does not work call someone hogher up in the ranks. If you call 1-800-ASK-USPS you can leave a complaint. This gets filed with your po and with the district your post office is in. Your old carrier did the right thing by leaving a 3849 to tell you the package will be at the po. I will check on this more on monday 1/3 to see if i can find you more info.
