Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I made a settlement on a car loan that I purchased in 02/26/07. My loan was originally with Capital One Auto account 3692899 for $13,300. It took my auto insurance a year and half to settle on this claim they settled at $12,646.83.

After a year of late fees, etc the balance came to $16,664.71. However, when I spoke with Judith Jones at United Recovery systems-URS (888-593-8405 X 2088,) and I explained the situation honestly of what happened with the claim. Judith stated no problem lets settle at $11,000. She recorded the conversation to settle the total debt at $11,000. Then, Judith stated, The rest would be written off as bad debt and would credit in 30 days from payment. I mailed the check certified and it has been cashed. Judith Jones with URS stated, to me that this would settle my account at 100%, and I had nothing to worry about it would be a done debt.

Unfortunately, today I received a notice from a different collection agency on 12/01/08 from Northstar Location Services (866-610-2729 acct # 3692899) I spoke with Mr. Farrell a supervisor of the company, and he said that this debt is not settled and was transferred to that office 1 month ago from United Recovery System (URS). He stated, I still owe $5644.71. He didn't try to resolve this issue, and didn't even want to try to get the bottom of this situation. He just told me to pay the difference of the debt that I settled with URS on 10/02/08. Is that even moral?

As you can see this is very frustrating since I settled this balance with United Recovery Systems. Now, I guess I'm going to have to contact an attorney and pay out fee's that I don't have. Especially, since the economy's troubled times its hard for everyone.

I hope that some one with the knowledge and expertise can get this account resolved quickly. I'm really tired of fighting this debt that was resolved on 10/02/08 with URS. Just as I thought it was taken care with one creditor the balance is transferred from URS to another creditor. What? Another creditor This was resolved right?

In addition, when I called United Recovery System they wouldn't talk to me because the account was transferred to Northstar. I called Capitol One they wouldn't talk to me either because it was in collection. Help! Why was this settled when it really wasn't settled?

I'm a single mother on a fixed income. I'm driving a 1990 Oldsmobile. A one bedroom apt for my son and I is not living the high life by any means. This is going to force me to go into bankruptcy. Is that what you want?

Is capitol one a dishonest company or is it the collection agency that Capitol One Auto hired to collect their debts the dishonest one's.

I understand collection agency have to be firm, consistent, and annoying, but not liar's. Is this an issue with the agency or capital one? No one can give me any answers. I need help with this please some one help me resolve this debt that was taken care of on 10/02/08 with United Recovery System.

I appreciate your time to read my concerns about a settled debt that I took care of on 10/02/08 for $11,000 with United Recovery System. Or so I thought it was settled...

Was the car wrecked?

Why would a collection agency be calling you about a car your insurance company had already paid for? You need to give your insurance company's phone number to the collection agency and let them figure it out.

I also have had trouble with Capital One Auto. My wife's car was taken back by Capital One due to medical reasons. A verbal agreement was established to pay the balance. All was fine unit we received a call from Capital One that they were closing the branch that we sent our payment to and the account was being turned over to collections. Since they broke the verbal agreement I quit paying as they would not work with me in any way. Two years later I received a letter from Northstar Location Services, a debt collector, to try to recover the balance. I kept all the names and number of Capital One employees i talked with and will go to court if necessary to make my claim that Capital One broke their verbal agreement. Don't trust Capial One -
