Ripoff Report Verified™ REVIEW

EDitor's UPDATE: Positive rating and recognition has been given to United Patent Research for its full commitment to quality customer service.

Ripoff Report's discussions with United Patent Research, LTD. have uncovered an ongoing dedication by the company to total client satisfaction. This means that clients can expect that the company will work towards finding a mutually satisfactory resolution to any concerns. United Patent Research, LTD. listens carefully to client concerns and sees them as an opportunity to learn from past mistakes and become more efficient as a company in the services offered and the support for those services.

United Patent Research, Ltd.’s president, Mr. Patrick Ralston, has informed us that his personal philosophy is that his clients’ success are at the heart of the business. As a successful businessman, Mr. Ralston feels it is critical to listen to his clients and respond properly. By always putting his customers first, Mr. Ralston has maintained a successful enterprise both now and in the future. The most powerful legislative body in the inventor world is the United Inventors Association. Their philosophy is the same as Mr. Ralston’s – to guide inventors and provide them with the best advice and service to enhance the prospects of taking an invention from concept to successful licensing. That is why United Patent Research is one of the few selected companies that holds the status of platinum sponsor with the United Inventors Association. This philosophy translates itself very strongly when contacting manufacturers on behalf of its clients. United Patent Research takes this philosophy very seriously in truly communicating their clients’ projects to prospective manufacturers, distributors, and buyers, evidenced by the fact they average at least one trade show a month. One of the things Ripoff Report learned in the course of its review is that typical customer feedback reads: “United Patent Research, Ltd. truly communicates all aspects of the service in a timely and effective manner. We are very pleased with the responsiveness that the employees show us. They are serious about meeting commitments and deliver on their promises.”

The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by William Baker during an onsite inspection held by a third party verification company with no biases toward United Patent Research.

Leads for United Patent Research are acquired through various different sources including online and televised marketing. Once the initial interest has been made a potential client can expect customer service that goes above and beyond, "we provide the highest level of service that we can give them...I think when people analyze what we're doing for the price it doesn't take them long to figure out that we're saving than a lot of money upfront. We're doing the work for a fraction of what it would cost them to do it by themselves." At each level of communication and progression United Patent Research aims to provide the highest level of customer service.

During the onsite interview Mr. Ralston was asked to describe a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received. Mr. Ralston explained while they rarely receive complaints some clients can become dissatisfied when their product is not as successful as they anticipated it being, "it's not a get rich quick scheme. It's an ongoing process." While United Patent Research cannot guarantee the success of a product it will provide a service which will give a potential product it's best chance to succeed. They combat unrealistic expectations by explaining their processes both verbally and in writing.

CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION FROM UNITED PATENT RESEARCH

When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Ralston believes that the comments could be from competitors because of the dates that they were posted. In order to assure future clients Mr. Ralston expressed that United Patent Research's methods of development are both legal and successful. This can been seen through their many accreditations, "the most powerful legislative body in the inventor world is the United Inventors Association...they are very careful with who they associate themselves, and we are actually on the United Inventors Associations website." Not only is United Patent Research on the website, but they are listed as a Platinum Sponsor which is acknowledges as being the best of the best. It should also be noted that they have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

When asked what type of changes they have made to honor their commitment to make things right with the customer per the request of Ripoff Report, Mr. Ralston stressed their high standards for customer service, "the one thing that I think really keeps people happy is that if there is an issue we will get it fixed." United Patent Research is so dedicated in fact that clients have a direct line to Mr. Ralston if any issues arise.

United Patent Research is pleased to be a part of Ripoff Reports Corporate Advocacy Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program. Mr. Ralston stated, "it's an absolute honor to be a part of the program...at the end of the day you as a company have every expectation to make the client happy, and that's what this program is about."

UNITED PATENT RESEARCH – STATEMENT FROM Claire deNatale (Inventor)

"I am more than happy to be an ardent spokesperson for United Patent Research. I have been working with the company for a year and a half. All of the personnel who have been involved with my intellectual property have been well-educated, articulate, responsive, and encouraging without giving any false promises. The company is extremely honest.

“UPR, from the inception of my product, has offered step-by-step instructions, with my protection in mind. I have found everyone to be highly knowledgeable about the entire patent process. I give kudos to Jim Jackson who was extremely helpful in the beginning. Then, I had the good fortune to speak with Pat Ralston, President of UPR. Pat Ralston is a gift! He is so personable, and is extremely timely in returning phone calls or emails. I have told him that he makes me feel as though I am his only client! He has been extremely helpful with his suggestions in getting my idea to the marketplace, and with all of my questions and concerns. I also would like to say that I feel extremely comfortable with the licensing attorney involved with my product, Mr. Michael Freedman. It’s a salute to the company that they have chosen him to represent their clients. I also would like to say that the first person who called me after my first inquiry about the whole process (and I regret that I forget his name), was also knowledgeable and very encouraging.

“United Patent Research is very thorough and also kept me highly informed in the step-by-step process to where my product is today. I have been very happy with the whole exercise, and it’s my fervent wish for their continued success and prosperity in these challenging times. Thank you for the opportunity to speak on behalf of a wonderful American company. They are the embodiment of what a great company should be!”

NOW TO THE ORIGINAL REPORT THAT WAS FILED

United Patent Resources Ltd., NPA, PTI Of America United Patent Resource Ltd. Blackmailed Me Into Writing Retraction To Keep Record Clean In Return For A Refund!!!! Olney Maryland

Director Al Lever of the United Patent resources Ltd. called me on the morning of 2/11/08 in an attempt to blackmail me in return for a refund. UPR had gotten wind of my Rip-Off Report, and in attempt to keep there perfect 3 year no complaint record they propositioned me to write a retraction. Apparently someone who was looking to pay $20,000 for a United States, International patent through them read my report, and Changed there mind.

United Patent Resources wanted me to call this person, and convince them they were a good up standing company which obviously is not true, but I made the call anyway. Honestly I couldn't in good consience stoop so low as to make them look good, so I gave that individual every piece of dirt I could drag up on them, and also recieved some even more startling information in return.

The patent search that the company had done for me is by no way an extensive search in fact I payed $795.00 for info. I could have reasearched for free, and most of the official USTPO patent numbers they supply aren't even on the USTPO website, because they are fake, they don't exist. Plus there is a negative paper trail a mile long on almost every employee working for this company, and even though they claim to have been in business for many years, this company has only existed under its current name for 1 year.

Having been associated with many companys that have been shutdown, they changed there name, so when you look them up on the BBB you will probaly see a 3 year no complaint record. This is actually what suckered me into trusting this company in the first place, I just figured if the BBB doesn't mark them with any complaints then they must be legit. When nothing could be farther from the truth, it is misleading, because the BBB only holds a record for 3 years, and anything that has happened before that time isn't listed. All the company has to do is changed there name, and they come out looking squeaky clean.

This company is already under investigation, and what goes around comes around, so please if you have any negative comments, or experiences to share, file a report. Lets shut this company down once, and for all. Have already saved one person since filing my reports from losing $20,000, so it's good to know one can make a difference, and I urge you to do the same.

Please explain the comments of Darrell Mormando

Sat, September 19, 2009

I have been privately investigating an issue that I had with Patent and Trade Institute of America, relating to a product that I submitted to them.

In my research through the Ripoff Report, I discovered names of individuals involved and one of them was Darrell Mormando.  In report #256869 Mr. Mormando offers his rebuttal to this complaint entitled "the complete account".

In his rather lengthy dissertation he makes a statement that most of the rest of the personell of PTI formed United Patent Resources.

Ms. Hunt in this report #308122 rebuttal states that "UPR has at no time, ever been another company", and "UPR has never been associated with or worked under any other companies previous to it's start in 2007".

Technically Ms. Hunt's statement is true since a corporation is an entity of itself, however if Mr. Mormando's statement is true, then the people involved with the UPR entity did indeed come from the background of PTI.

It is not my intent to imply that either of the parties listed are lying, and it is not my place to judge them.  I am simply shining a light on what may seem to be darkness.

The patent numbers given to Yuri as part of the patent search he contracted for are correct. Apparently he doesn't know how to look it up on the USPTO website. It can be fairly difficult. All of our patent searches are done through a registered patent attorney, not a google search. The benefit of having a professional do the search is that the professional knows where to look, which sub categories to search in, and what is truly relevant to each case. UPR has, at no time, ever been another company. As for the complaint history, the BBB keeps records for up to 3 years on the companies they list on their site. Just because they keep records for 3 years does not mean we have been in business for that long. As a matter of fact, the listing on the BBB states when our business started, and, at the time of Yuri's complaint, we had only been in business for about 1 year. This is a very good example of how people can misinterpret what they read. The disclosure on our contract uses the language in the previous 10 years because that is how the required disclosure is worded by the FTC. This does not mean that we have been in business for 10 years. Furthermore, it also explains that some of our employees had worked previously with other companies, NOT that UPR was previously another company. Actually, this is one of the main reasons this company was started, because the owner saw a problem with how some other companies were operating, by not fulfilling their contracts and by not even attempting to help clients sell or license their patents. This is why UPR has partnered with Universal Licensing, an experienced licensing company with an 8+ year record to prove it. UPR has never been associated with or worked under any other companies previous to its start in 2007. If we're under investigation, it's news to me. To read what our clients have to say about their experiences with our company, please check our company blog. A link to the blog can be found on our homepage. We also have testimonials listed in the About Us section of our website. Yuri hired our company in August of 2007 and received the work and materials for which he contracted in October of 2007. We were not aware that he was unsatisfied until his post on ROR turned up 3 months later in January of 2008. As for the retraction and refund statements given by Yuri, he was simply asked to correct his statements once the facts were explained to him. Apparently he wrote a retraction on 2-11, at 9:31 A.M., and rescinded his retraction 45 minutes later, at 10:15 A.M. Then he continued to follow information that has nothing to do with us. Yuri, in fact, was given a full refund. It was issued and mailed out on February 12th. Respectfully submitted, Amanda Hunt 888-997-7113 x709
