Computerized Certificate Code # 6/5 MEX-0101. Additional identifying number on back of brochure is 92039.

I purchased a vacation through Mini Vacations Inc (MVI) on Ubid.com for $100 and have sent my money in ($50) to "register" my certificate and have gotten no response. The company's brochure states that upon receipt of my completed reservation request and money that written correspondence will be mailed to me when reservations are confirmed. It has been 2 months and NOTHING! There is no phone number to call either. If anyone from this company reads this I would appreciate a reply and either a full refund of my $50 or that a reservation be made for me (I gave a number of potential travel dates).

I am very disappointedd and definitely feel like I've been "taken." Poor business practice.

Dear Beth in Oregon,

I hope you've contacted Mini Vacations of Tampa and been helped. It was very refreshing to see a response from an employee of the company with full names and numbers. This is the first time I've run across this website and it seems useful but, I'm taking some of the comments with a grain of salt. Having worked with people for 20 years in various industries, I know misunderstandings can occur rather easily despite your best efforts and putting everything in writing.

For instance, you mentioned you purchased your Mini Vacation at Ubid for $100. This is the first place I would go to for a recovery because the brochure I just received and the website I was sent to clearly state in item #14 "This certificate may be transferred to a third party (prior to booking) as a gift offer only, providing the terms and conditions are met by the person using the vacation. This cerficate cannot be sold or exchanged for cash,..."

So, I am hoping that the person who sold you the mini vacation on Ubid did so mistakenly and sent you the certificate that contains this statement or still possesses it and will return your money to you. I realize thats a lot of hope but you have 2 other places to go, also, if you purchased the same type of certificate I was given with the same provision.

Those are Ubid which I've heard good things about and your credit card company if you used a credit card to pay for the certificate. Most of my credit cards protect me from misrepresentation and fraudulent use. I hope this helps and I look forward to hearing a happy ending to your story. At least if looks like Mini Vacations is trying quite hard to work with you and get you that vacation. If this is true, it would be nice if you let us know since I now hold a certificate I had high hopes of using in Florida. I plan to still use it after a little more research and certain provisions and when I do I'll let you know. To paraphrase one my heros, you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people, all of the time.

Beth,

I would like to help you enjoy your Puerto Vallarta vacation but I could not find your record with the certificate number you provided.

If you have submitted the $50.00 refundable deposit, then your record should be in our system. Please contact us with more information so we can locate your record and get your vacation plans underway.

You may email me at [email protected] or call (813) 621-1400 and ask for Brian Cummings, Cherilyn Brown or Lindsay Gordon. Any one of us will be glad to assist you.
