We received a new debit card for our bank and overlooked updating the Harris County Toll Road Authority (Ez Tag). The Ez Tag can be used anywhere in TX on any toll road.  While traveling on the Grand Parkway (with is serviced by TxTag), we had two charges totaling 2.95. Due to the tag not having the updated credit card on file, toll violation fees were another $10.00.  We updated the card immediately when we found out of this issue and the various toll road authorities were very cordial and easy to work with.

Not TxTag.  I have two complaints with them. The first is the lack of customer service.  They apparently will not waive a violation fee for any reason.  This brings me to my second complaint:  They kept insisting that Ez Tag was the only company that could waive their Tx Tag fee.   I had to call TxTag three times and Ez Tag twice as Tx Tag kep lying and insisting that Ez Tag was the company in charge of the deciding if a violation fee would be imposed.  Ez Tag verified that they never imposed the $10.00 violation fee and they have no control over another company's fees.

Since Ez Tag has a 20+ minute hold time, it caused great inconvenience and made a frustrating situation truly stressful.  Their business practice is dishonest to pull strings like a puppeteer while they are fully aware of the truth.  If they were to just be upfront and say that they have a black and white policy that allows for no expections, I could have saved myself approximately 1.5 hours of hassle.  I still would not have been pleased with the lack of 'humanity' in this company, but I would have been saved all this time and stress.

While my fee was $10, I can only help but wonder at how many people have this sort of situation occur on a road they take for their daily commute.  This could quickly be an issue of several hundred dollars in a very short time.

This was YOUR MISTAKE and you really shouldn't look to get the fee waived BECAUSE YOU FAILED!!!! To expect to get a pass is just self entitlment on YOUR part. YOU expect the fee to be waived because YOU are such a nice person? Not every company is going to do as YOU ask. YOU are clearly guilty of NON PAYMENT!!! The cost of NON PAYMENT is a fee or fine. Get over it and move on. YOU DONT DESERVE to have the fee waived. What makes YOU so special that YOU get a pass where EVERYONE ELSE has to pay?? Sorry but your daddy was WRONG!! YOU are NOT that special!! You have stolen atleast 2 uses of the road. just because YOU have an excuse doesnt change the THEFT you commited. Had you done this in a retail store YOU would have been caught and arrested. The $10 fee is the cost of the THEFT you commited.
