A co-worker wanted to order a diet pill and asked if she could use my credit card since she does not have one. Why I let her, I do not know! She said the cost would only be $10 and if she wasn't fully satisfied she could return it without any further charges on the card.

She tried the product for a couple of weeks and felt it wasn't doing what it promised. About a month later (August 9, 2003) I received my bank statement and $229.50 had been taken out of my account. The charge was from Monterey Financial Services. Their telephone number is 760-639-3500. I called them to see why they were charging my card for this amount. I had never worked with a financial service before and figured it probably was a mistake.

Surely they just put in a wrong digit and somehow charged my card instead of who they intended on charging. But when I called Monterey Financial it wasn't that simple, the gentelman asked me if I had ever orderd a product over the internet called ring stop. I said NO. Then he mentioned that the compay TREEHOUSE MARKETING also sold other things like diet pills. That's when it hit me, this was the thing that my co-worker ordered!

The gentleman at Monterey Financial Services said they no longer are dealing with Treehouse Marketing but they are a legitimate company out of Utah and gave me a telephone number to contact them.

And the roundabout circus began. I called and spoke with Charmaine in Customer Service. At first she told me that they did not receive the product back in time. My co-worker called and spoke with this same Charmaine and it was later agreed that they did receive the product back and they would have the charges reversed on my card.

Daily I called my bank to see if the charges had been reversed. NO. I spoke with Charmaine again. She indicated that I had to fax my bank statement to her to prove that I was indeed charged. So, I did as they wanted. I called back to make sure they received the fax. Yes. More time elapsed. I called this Charmaine in Customer Service and asked when I was going to see the charges reversed.

This time she told me that she wasn't going to reverse the charges but send me a check. But there was some situation in their office with accounting and the check would not be sent out right away. She indicated that she would call me to let me know when the check would be sent. Still more time elapsed! So I called again today to see what the hold up is.

The first time I called in the morning, I got a recording that said Customer Service hours are from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time. So I tried again at 1:00 PM. The phone just rings constantly now. Now I am not even getting a recording, just ringing. I even let the phone ring for a solid three minutes at one point. They have probably canceled the phone service again.
