Thank you for your posting. It was great to see that finaly someone with a lot of courage and insight of the travel industry did a little investigating and discovered what many others have found out the hardway: that Travelbridge resorts to lies, lies, & more lies all because they are not offering ANYTHING that any other travel agency out there can't offer. I am very curious to know on what date you visited Travelbridge since a permanent injuction in the Texas Attorney General's lawsuit against them specifically prohibits them from "representing expressly or by implication that their members are entitled to Travel Agent rates" and if this happened anytime after Feb. 15, 2002 they are very likely in violation, and although I am not an attorney, I believe that this could probably represent some kind of legal/economic trouble for Travelbridge.

A good friend of the family got involved with this company last year and like all the others said before...they were ripped off. I have been a "real" travel agent for almost 17 years now and decided to do a little investigative visiting to the local Austin office.
I went in to this office and asked them what benefit would I recieve by paying $5995 to become a member of their organization.
I was told "You will be able to get an official IATAN card and get travel agent rates every time I travelled." I then asked them if that was it and they said "oh no, you can also get paid commissions of up to 50% for any travel arrangements you make."
I then advised them that I am a travel agent, working from my home, associated with a REAL travel agency that charges me $0 to make travel arrangements (It's called an "outside" sales agent) and that I recieve as much as 80% of the commission recieved by the agency and that my IATAN card cost me $15 but that I had to personally EARN $5000 in commissions a year to keep it (that is the rule set by IATAN) (I had them show me their "IATAN" card-it was just a company i.d. with an iata number on it-I showed them what a REAL IATAN card looked like) Just a bit of advice to all those out there wanting to receive travel agent benefits...
In this day and time ANY travel agency would welcome ANYONE that could bring new business to their agency. But sadly, the benefits we travel agents receive are few and far between...
If I travelled every month at travel agent rate it would take me 5 years to "save" $5995. Don't get fooled. After more investigation into their "special travel deals" I discovered that Travelbridge was not offering ANYTHING that any other agency out there could offer you.
It's a sad thing to see how these criminals are still in business. By the way..when I went to where they were supposed to be officed there was a note on the door that said they had moved and their new location...there was also a notice from the electric company stuck on the door saying they were being disconnected because they had not paid their bill. Hmmmm.
A lawyer in my family said that usually means they are going to bankrupt the current corporation and start a new one....doing the same old thing. BE CAREFUL! (It made me feel good to watch those women in the Austin office squirm and become speechless...they knew "I" knew that what they were doing was VERY illegal! Good luck to those out there who got "taken" by this company. I truly hope you get your money back but more importantly I hope Travelbridge and whatever company they decide to "change" to gets SHUT DOWN.

mY HUSBAND AND I ATTENTED A 'MEETING' AT TRAVELBRIDGE, AND ULTIMATELY SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR TOURS, ETC. THAT WOULD SAVE US A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY.
NATURALLY THERE IS NO SAVINGS, AND THOUGH WE STIPULATED SEVERAL TIMES THAT WE WERE NOT INTERESTED IN CRUISES OR CONDOS, THEY MADE IT CLEAR THAT WE COULD SAVE ON ALL TYPES OF TRAVEL.
THE NEXT MORNING WE CONTACTED THE HOUSTON BBB AND WERE TOLD THAT THE 'THREE DAY WAITING PERIOD' MAY NOT APPLY AS WE SIGNED THE CONTRACT INTHEIR OFFICE. DDDDDDDIT WAS A VERY LATE EVENING DECISION, AND LIKE MANY OTHERS, WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY TO OUR FAXES, WHICH WERE SENT IMMEDIATELY, NOR WILL THEY RETURN 'PHONE CALLS.
THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS, AND I WILL NOT FORGIVE MYSELF FOR BEING SO STUPIDEDLY TRUSTING. WE ARE HOPING THAT THE ATTORNED GENERAL OF TEXAS CAN HELP US, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN CONNED BY THIS COMPANY. IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT, PLEASE NOTIFY THE BBB, AND ALSO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.
THERE IS SO MUCH MONEY INVOLVED, AND TO THINK THAT CROOKS ARE OUT THERE WAITING TO PREY ON UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE. WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER - FAMOUS LAST WORDS!
