LIke others havev reported, the same thing happened to me. I recently signed up for an online credit soluitons program. During my studying and reading of this program I was directed to sign up for a free credit report when I clicked on the link it took me to transunion.com. It (Transunion) stated that it was going to need my CC information to charge me $1 for my free credit report, which I got an email confirmation for. 8 days later I was charged $17.95 for my "Transunion Membership" How ever, I did not even find out until 12 days later, as I was going through my online checking account.

I called transunion right away and let them know of this charge that I never authorized and that I wanted to be reimbursed. I was then told that when I "signed up" that it stated that it was only a 7 days trial and that I had 7 days to cancel my mebership. I let him know that, I would have cancelled my membership during the 7 days (if it had stated that) or I would have never even bothered to sign up! I told him that I never recieved confirmation of the agreement of $17.95 or a receiept, but I did for the $1. NO WHERE ON THE WEBSITE DOES IT STATE THT THEY WILL CHARGE YOU $17.95. I read it very thouroughly. I am  glad that I noticed right away, instead of 6 months down the road.

My thoughts are this...if a crerdit reporting agency is going to scam you of your own hard working money, you can only guess that they will do the same to your report. Be very cautious of these companies when you are looking for your credit score or report. These credit reporting companies are a scam and it's too bad that we have to base our entire life's well being around them! It's crock of crap and I wish something could be done to bring these SOB's down!

TransUnion Interactive service has changed

#2Consumer Comment

Fri, October 13, 2017

Now that it is 2017, the TransUnion Interactive service has changed. After researching info on the Equifax data breach of July 2017, I came across a TransUnion offer to join what is now called True Identity (used to be TU Interactive). After joining a month ago, I was able to lock my report online just by clicking on a button on the website. It took a few days for this to take effect, but I just received my report, and it states that the report is locked. I receive free yearly reports on the AnnualCreditReport site. In the past I had lots of trouble getting my TransUnion report, but this time I was able to get it  without any issues. The site is here: https://membership.tui.transunion.com/tucm/ . So far I think it is a good service, and the locked report isn't as secure as an account freeze, but it is better than no security. TD
