I also had a very bad experience with Transouth in Atlanta, GA and Dallas, TX. I noticed that you had entailed a different name they went by as well. I signed my original loan through Auto-one, then the name was changed to Transouth Auto, then to Citifinancial. Three different names within a two year period since I signed my loan in 2003 when I purchased a car from Kia of Columbus, Ga (another bad experience). I was told I would be send a payment booklet to mail my payments in to Transouth, but I never received one. Because I had my best friend co sign the loan for me, I could not get them to advise me when the loan was due without her personal information to verify the account. She and I had a falling out several months later. Everything is being sent to her address since she is the primary loan holder. Even when she was deployed to Iraq, I could not get a payment coupon or loan payoff information without her approval. When she returned from Iraq, I advised her that I needed her to contact Transouth to allow me to have access to payment information and get account status. My account was past due several times because I had no idea where the payments were supposed to be sent since the name changed several times. There was an incident where I sent the first payment and had also sent information to do an auto deduct from my banking account and they never set it up correctly. My account history also shows a balance that is incorrect on my account but Transouth claims that it is correct. I also have had to speak to them about placing late payment inquiries on my credit report that never should have been placed. I got an apology and told it would be corrected but 6 months later, it is still showing the same status. Short of having an attorney, I don't think I will be able to do anything about it. I just want people to know how Transouth is not doing business properly so they will know beforehand. In your case, you should be able to show the finance company proof that your account was paid off I would think, but I haven't made it to the home financing part of life just yet. Good luck to you on that.
