Traditional Auto Shipping rip-off fraudulent Portland Oregon
Arranged to have a car shipped from Roseville, CA to Hilo, HI. Picked up on 2/4/03.
They required payment in full up front for all services per the contract. Thus I paid via personal check, $1450.
The car was then shipped and arrived in Hilo, HI on 3/5/03. However, Matson Navigation said they needed payment of $946 to release the car because Traditional Auto Shipping had not yet paid them.
Upon finding this out, I contacted the local carrier that was used to pick up and deliver to Oakland. They too had not been paid by TAS.
I have since called the 800 number which is not going through. I called the secondary number at 503-221-4447 and no answer/no recording.
so now I'm out an additional $946. And the local transport is out $200, which they said they will deal with on their own.

Traditional Auto Shipping is out of business. They were previously operating as American Auto Shipping and Reliable Auto Shipping out of the Thousand Oaks, CA area. They (American/Reliable) were served a search warrant back in August, 2002 by the Ventura County D.A.'s Office. The owner and all the employees were the same. You will probably never see your money again, unless their case ever gets to court and they award it back to you. The BBB in Portland knows about them being out of business, but won't post it until mail they send them comes back. In the mean time, here is the phone number to Mike Fino, the agent who served the search warrant and who is handling the case, at the Ventura County District Attorney's office...805-289-1967. He's probably your only hope. Let everyone know how things go with your attempts.
