This past Christmas I purchased two Tracfones for me and my wife. After about a month we realized that we only needed one since we only used them for emergency purposes. So I successfully sold one of our Tracfones on eBay.

A few days after the buyer received the Tracfone, I noticed a pending charge of $84.79 on my credit card listed from Tracfone on 02/18/2005. Since I know that we didn't purchase minutes or any other products from Tracfone for the current phone we had, I called them to see why my credit card was charged.

After speaking to someone for several minutes and being placed on hold several times, I was transferred to their credit card department where again, I was placed on hold several times for about 30 minutes in addition to dealing with the language barrier. I explained repeatedly that I didn't purchase anything and I wanted to know why my card was charged.

After researching their records they told me that I had purchased minutes on one of my phones (the phone that I sold). I explained to them that I didn't have the phone that it was sold and that I didn't authorize them to charge my card. They told me that an agent accepted the charge and the only way my card would have been charged is if I called in. I explained to them again I did call them and didn't purchase anything online and that my card was charged without my authorization.

Frustrated as I was, I immediately asked to talk to a supervisor. Yet again, I was placed on hold several times for about 15 minutes before talking to a supervisor. After speaking with the supervisor and explaining the situation they told me that they removed my information from their records and that I would be charged again.

First of all...I never authorized them to store my information nor is there a place on their website that allows this option. Secondly...this didn't resolve the issue of my card being charged.

After about an hour on the phone, they told me that they had to forward it to their executive staff to review and that I would be contacted within 48 hours. I received no phone call.

A few days later, I checked my credit card account and noticed that the pending charge was removed.

However, I checked my account again today and noticed that the $84.79 was taken out of my account.

I realized that many people have had issues with Tracfone due to customer service and technical issues, but this is very serious. Taking money out of someones account without their authorization is criminal! Not only do I intend on disputing this charge through my credit card company to return my money, but I'm seriously thinking about contacting our attorney.

Tracfone should be stopped!
