I tried to buy minutes for my Tracfone but soon found out that the card bought at a store is just a donation to the company. There is no way to activate a phone. The on-line system does not work and the phone was just a big waste of time. The number they give did not even connect me to Tracfone but to Verizon instead. Eventually I finally was routed to a man in India only to find out that the wireless phone I was on(for 1 1/2 hours) could not enter the "code". I had to call the number again on a regular land line and he would give me the "code" to enter. This time I actually got through to Tracfone but was only given choices of buying minutes with a credit card. I had already bought a 120 minute card-no option to use it. At this point it was clear that I was ripped off and the cards bought at the the store were a scam. The phone does not exist anymore except in small pieces. I just want everyone to know that these cards are a scam. Because I connected to Verizon the first several times instead of Tracfone I have to wonder if Verizon has acquired Tracfone and is eliminating them.

To add airtime....

I have done this before and know it works. You cannot add airtime when calling from your tracfone. You have to call from a landline phone, you CAN call from a payphone as the number you call is toll-free. But, you need to have your tracfone with you and charged. The phone number you need to dial is: 1-800-867-7183. Then when asked if you want to add airtime and it says to dial 2 for that option, dial 2. Then you need to keep following prompts from there, the next prompt you will get is one asking if you are familiar with adding airtime or something like that. Then it will ask for your serial number from your phone. It keeps going from there. I'm not going to go into it word for word. You can also get a customer service rep. from this number. I also know it works to add airtime from the website as I have done this for the last 4 years. I have to agree with other posters here though, the customer service really could be better, you can usually hardly understand the person you are talking to. I had to ask to speak to a supervisor or someone else 3 times once just to get someone I could understand reasonably. Hope this helps.
