I was taken unfair advantage of at Toyota Culver City. I took in an estimate for $500.00 from Les Schwab to replace my control arms. However, Randy Castellanos, the service advisor at Culver City Toyota, told me that Toyota did not sell the control arms separately from the rack and pinion. He persuaded me to get both done together for $2500.00 and spoke badly of the other company. He led me to believe Les Schwab was not qualified to diagnose the repair and that if I did not replace the rack and pinion that I would be in danger.

I had always gone to Toy Walnut Creek and they never had lied, so I figured this dealer was telling the truth.

$2500 later, my truck began making a scary loud cracking noise coming from the front end, exactly where the new parts were just installed. Randy took my truck to the back to have it inspected. He said everything was fine with the rack and pinion as well as the control arms. He stated they found a different part that was making the noise but it was not necessary to replace as it would cost too much. He stated it was not dangerous to drive and not to worry about the noise!

Boy did I get taken. A few  months later, and as the noise got louder & louder, I took the truck to another Toyota dealer. They confirmed my worst nightmare. The rack and pinion was causing the noise, it was dangerous to drive and the control arms had too much play. But worse than that, they also confirmed that Toyota does sell & replace only the control arms. Upon requesting a refund, Toy Culver City has avoided my calls.

I am out $2000 for parts I did not need, they have discarded my original rack and pinion and gave me a defective part, I have had rental car expenses, 3 months of continuous phone calls without resolution, and lastly my life and my child's life was put in danger by the lies of Randy Castellanos.   

The service manager, Dimitrious, has not fired Randy Castellanos even though I pointed out the numerous occassions of deceit and fraud he has committed to multiple customers (See Yelp).

If anyone would like to join me in a joint lawsuit please contact me.
