Over Labor Day Weekend I was searching the web for Labor Day deals that would get me a good price on an investment for my freelance filmmaking. My dad referred me to a great looking ad he found while browsing around that same day. I ended up purchasing a Canon 5D Mark II for $1,297 off of thedigitalpros.com which was a great deal for that camera and model. Almost too good, in fact, it was too good. The next day I received a phone call from a man named Bruce. He was a quick, smooth talking snake. I'd lived in the LA area long enough to recognize a con man's vernacular. He tested the waters of how much I knew by asking me about the camera I purchased and if I had worked with one before. I played dumb and answered his questions in a way that made me seem like I had no idea what was going on. Bruce told me that the camera I purchased was an import model meaning it was made in Taiwan and only had Chinese settings. I told him that I wasn't aware that there were import and USA models of Canon cameras and that Canon was an American company. He said that the USA model was made in Japan and imported to the USA and had English settings while the import model was made in Taiwan and only had Chinese settings. He said it he would gladly change my order to the USA model and add a 32 gb card and two 5-hour lithium batteries for the "low-price" of $2,299. When I asked him why it was so expensive to change the order to a camera that had English settings, he got flustered and re-explained that there were two types of camera. I told him i would call him back after I checked to make sure I had enough funds. I immediately called my dad and let him know whats going on and then called the guys at Adorama. He confirmed my thoughts about it being a scam after doing a little bit of internet surfing. He also confirmed my understanding that the language settings are universal and that there were no cameras made in Taiwan. He said he has more recently been hearing stories of this site trying to upsell their product and if they succeed, they will send you the product you originally bought and if they don't succeed on their upsell they will not deliver the product but claim it has been backordered. He suggested I cancel my order and inform my bank. I did that and called Bruce out on his antics after I reissued the credit card I used under different numbers. he denied it and said we will only read these reviews that there are no foriegn import cameras because we are trying to pay the Taiwan price for the Japan-made camera. He said he would cancel my order and now I am waiting to see if he actually does.

simply put: don't buy into their scam- bruce is a smooth-talking snake and will try to weasel his way into your pocket book. This "company" has no integrity and should be shut down.
