As many of the other stories, My dad and I were driving to our next stop on our way to work, when we stop at a red light in Dallas. These two white guys, mid 20s, asked us if we were interested in buying a home theater system. We didnt really need it since I already had one. He tells us to follow them in a kindly manner.

Both seemed like real nice guys. They told us they were freaking out. They had given them an extra set of Paramax P-6 audio system. They wanted to sell it since they didnt want their boss to keep it.

They had 3 in the back tailgate, Dark Blue 05 Tahoe. They asked us how much we had, I had 80 and my dad had 40. We told them that 50 was the most. So they said ok and we were about to leave.

They then got out their truck and asked us how much was the most we can gather up. They wanted 500. We said hell no. So they said at least 150.  We said 100. They said 120. Deal.

We got ripped off just like that. I really hope someone gets these guys off the streets and get me my money back. Now I dont know either to use the speakers or sell them at a pawn shop. I heard they have rocks inside of them but all I did was open the box to check out the quality.

They seem pretty legit speakers and they seemed like legit salesmen. They had the catalog and the receipt and everything matched up to their story. But things happen. I learned my lesson which it cost me 120 dollars.

not stolen

These speakers are not stolen. The sale is borderline legitimate. However, the product is awful. What these companies do is import junk products, create fake suggested retail prices, fake Web sites and then hire people to drive around cities and sell them out of the back of vans. You'll probably get a better speaker from a $50 boom box. Paramax is a typical name as it is close to Panamax which is a legitimate company.

Be Glad...

Just be glad you are only out $120 and not 1-2 Years in your local jail for receiving stolen goods.  Because you had to either have been really naive, or at least greedy(which they feed on).  To not know that they were either a scam, or trying to sell some stolen merchandise.

Just be careful if you attempt to sell them at a Pawn Shop(or to anyone else).  Because if you represent them as anything more than they are YOU could end up in legal trouble for fraud.

By the way if you thought they were "legit" salespeople I wonder what it would take you to consider someone an illegitimate salesperson.

No sympathy here.

So, you thought you were going to buy stolen merchandise and get a great deal?  The one thing that cons like this rely on is the greed of the victim.  If it weren't for folks like you that are willing to buy supposedly stolen stuff off the back of a truck, con artists like these would not be in business.
