Synlawn tried to rip me off on a several thousand dollar purchase. They quote prices (in writing) by the sqaure foot either "delivered/installed" or "turf only". The difference is several dollars per sqaure foot (almost double).

I elected to pick up my order at the warehouse and install it on my own so I was quoted the "turf only" price. When I tried to pay the bill, tax was added of course, but I was also ambushed with a $225 "shipping and handling" charge at the very end of the transaction.

I contested it and explained that the shipping and handling charge was not mentioned or shown to me in writing anywhere. I explained that I was picking the product up at the warehouse in town. The salesman said that the shipping and handling charge was not for getting the product to my home, rather it was to get the product to their Arizona warehouse from Atlanta(which I assume is their factory).

I explained that the per sqaure footage price sheet did not reflect "F.O.B. Atlanta" anywhere and I was never told that the per sqaure footage price was plus shipping to AZ. Keep in mind that I walked into a retail store in AZ, made my purchase and expected to drive home with the product just like one would do at a grocery store. This would be like trying to buy a 1/2 pound of turkey at the deli counter (for the per lb. marked price) and when you got to the checkout counter, you got charged $5 for the truck that bought the meat to the store!

The salesman asked his sales manager who ultimately called the owner. In the end the manager nor the owner did anything about it. Both had the attitude of a shady used car dealer who was trying to get away with something and didn't care if you liked it or not. When the owner of the company is contacted and condones that kind of activity, you know you're in trouble! This company also quotes a 10 year warranty. Based on their sales tactics and the way I was treated, I would not want to deal with them ever again, rely on their integrity in any way, or count on their customer service down the road. There are many artificial turf companies out there. My advice is buy your from someone else!
