On December 11, 2002 I purchased a car on eBay. I found Southerland Auto Transports web site and contracted with them to move my car from Brooklyn, NY to Carlisle, PA. Southerland requested that I send a money order for the full amount in order to receive the "discount rate" they quoted for shipping the car. I have copy of the US Postal Service money order that I mailed to them. They sent me an email message on December 17, 2002 confirming receipt of full payment.
The person that I purchased the car from wants the car to be picked up. I have made thirteen calls to Southerland Auto Transport, Inc. and each time they tell me that the car will be picked up very soon.
Today when I called, and asked them what it will take to ship my car. They told me that I should upgrade my service and pay an additional $200 and the car will be picked up today. This is extortion.
It would appear that this company will not deliver the service that I paid them for. In order to get my car shipped I must pay them additional money. I offered them an additional $100 to ship my car. This is not right. They never had any intention of shipping the car for the price they quoted. How many other people have they extorted additional money from?
Please investigate this company. If I cancel the contract they keep a $200 fee. If I pay them an additional $200 they will ship the car. They are deceptive in their Business practices. All I ask of them is to refund the entire $349 that I paid and I will have the car transported by a local company.
