Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

What I'm going to share with you actually happened to me, so I cannot be held liable for anything I say. And I have a family member and paperwork to back me up.

When I entered the Sleepy's showroom, I had a multitude of mattress sets to choose from. I spent $1,000 on mine (King-Firm) - and when I looked over my sales receipt later at home, I discovered that they'd actually charged me $209.00 for the mattress cover they said was FREE - and they had maneuvered the prices of things so that the value of the mattress was much less in value if they have to replace it. In other words, if I had come back and wanted to trade "up" - I'd have less money to work with. Perhaps the charges for the mattress cover reduced the value of my mattress. I don't know.

When the delivery men delivered my king/firm mattress, they said to me - "This is a piece of s**t. The last one of these we delivered, the box springs took chunks out of the bottom of the mattress." (Great words to hear when you've just laid out $1,000...)

The box springs aren't what box springs should look like. They're skinny metal blade-like looking things that stand up in the wooden box. They explained that it was the "new" boxsprings. If you were spending $3,000 or $4,000 and up then you'd get the traditional boxsprings we all know.

So that was six months ago.

I slept on it for 6 months, each day getting more and more aches and pains. I discovered the first night I slept on it that I couldn't "slide" over towards the center - I was in a "hole". But I thought that was normal. Each day my pain got worse - I started losing the ability to just WALK!!!! The mattress was taking my health away!!!

Eventually I complained, and the factory sent out a man who tested the firmness and it FAILED. It stayed compressed 1-1/2" when pressed down.

When I went to the store to arrange for the replacement mattress, I mentioned that they had charged me $209.99 for the Bedgear Mattress Cover they had willingly said would be FREE with my purchase. He stuttered and mumbled something about the figures being rearranged but that I got it for free. Really? It doesn't say that on my receipt. So the way it turned out, I only got $353.18 towards the purchase of another mattress. I spent $1,000.00 and now they refused to give me a store credit for the $1,000.

So I opted to get the same mattress - and it's 3x firmer than the first one. Why? Hard to figure out. Will it last? Who knows?

I'm lucky I discovered that the bed was making me hurt all over. Who's to say the mattress will give me the years that others have?, I've lost 6 months of my life and I'm still mad at the company. I've taken a multitude of medications to counter the pain caused by the mattress. How can the "factory" ship out orders that are so lacking in quality. It's like a "bait and switch game"... and Sleepy's won't take the blame - they blame it on the factory.

The feeling I got when I realized the deception from them was - 'THEY'VE SCREWED MANY, MANY PEOPLE OVER BEFORE ME..."

Would I go back to Sleepy's? Would you?

I got the following note from someone regarding Sleepy's: You can either file a complaint against them with the BBB(Better Business Bureau) or The Office of Attorney General Bureau of Consumer Protection. I worked there.....we had many complaints against them for bait and switch. Also the Department of Labor and Industry is in charge of regulating this industry and it might benefit you to contact them also. They are a bunch of scam artists!!!! Your story also might interest the news media to warn people against being defrauded by them....

UPDATE - UPDATE: My back and hips started hurting again. Something's not right. It's got to be the mattress...or the boxsprings!!!

Called the 800 number. Spoke with a "specialist" who offered to exchange the bed and "box springs" for $300 more - charging me to dispose of my mattress and a charge to deliver the stuff. (yeah, I'll bet they'll dispose of it....hardy hah, hah!!) Other than that, they said they couldn't come out and examine the box spring because they only do it once a year per customer, so I'd have to wait until 2015, as I just had them come out 3 weeks ago.

And now the mattress cover is bunching up from sleeping on it. Have to constantly "smooth" out the bed for it to look good. I asked about replacing the Bedgear Mattress Cover and they said I would have to call Bedgear - they wouldn't handle it.

UPDATE ON DELIVRY MEN: Was told by a woman in their office that the delivery men will be losing their jobs for telling me that the mattress was a piece of "s***".

So last night I took some flat priority boxes and slid them under my mattress at the torso area and solved my problem, I hope. Great night's sleep. It took 2 flat "s****.>

Why didn't Sleepy's think of that?

UPDATE AS OF TODAY, JANUARY 6, 2015: Called 1-800-753-3797 and spoke with one of their "specialists". Explained that the mattress had been replaced and that I was still having trouble with pain walking and moving unless I slept in the very "center" of the bed. This is where the two boxspring boxes meet under the mattress and there is no "give". Last night I moved to the center and I feel totally different today. So I told him this and he said, "Well, then return to the store with more money and buy a better boxspring." That was his answer.

What my family is going to do is put wood under the mattress totally disengaging the boxsprings. Nice way to enjoy a thousand dollar outlay of money - right?

Sleepy's - what crooks they are!

UPDATE - January 21 - bought plywood from Home Depot.  Cut it in two pieces to fit over boxsprings.  Turned the boxsprings over and placed the plywood on them.  Now mattress is on plywood but not on crappy boxsprings.  Mattress, when leaned against the wall is flimsy, the cover wrinkled - totally poor workmanship.  Slept on it last night - could hardly move when I got out of bed this morning.

UPDATE:  jAUARY 24, 2015.  My daughter bought a "bed topper" for $100 on sale.  Also bought some sheets with very wide pockets to cover the mattress topper and the mattress.  So now we're up over $250 of our money trying to make it possible for my hurt to go away and get back to living.  It seems like this is going to work.  Let's hope so.  I'm exhausted!!!!

UPDATE: January 16. You'll never believe this: My SON in York, Pa. .unknowingly. bought a mattress from Sleepy's and now he's going through EXACTLY what I'm going through with the back pain.

Why didn't Sleepy's think of that?  But it didn't help.  The entire set is really low, low quality.

UPDATE ON PLYWOOD UNDER MATTRESS:  Paid over $40 for plywood, had it cut and it was perfect!  Turned the boxsprings OVER and laid the wood on the top of the boxsprings, then the mattress on top of the wood.  Could hardly walk when I got out of bed this morning.

SO WE'RE FILING A CLAIM AGAINST THEM.
