My report is about why not lease it but more so Sears outlet. Me and my husband went to look at their furniture and found a couch we liked to purchase. Key word purchase not rent. We had just moved to Texas so we didn't have quite the full amount for the couch and they informed us we could do a payment plan to purchase the couch which would be ours after 6 payments. We thought six payments to pay off the couch would be fine. They told us we would pay 200 up front and roughly 200 each month for the following 6 months and then be done with payments and own the couch afterwards.

We are now at the last payment and thought awesome we are done with this bill. We received an email from why not lease it whom we are making those payments to and the email stated that after we paid this last payment we had three options 1-purchase 2-keep leasing 3- return. We were completely confused as to what that was supposed to mean since we we're both under the assumption that we had been making payments to buy this couch and just needed to pay the last one, why would we need to purchase it, isn't that what this was the whole time? We called why not lease it and they explained to us that we had been paying to basically rent the couch and we can buy it for a total payment of roughly 700 since have made these payments already.

We told them we believed that it was a mistake because we never wanted to rent a couch we wanted to purchase a couch. They say its not their fault which is fine, I believe Sears outlet is to blame they should have disclosed to us we were signing up for a rent/lease program not a monthly pay off program. Their program is going to make us pay roughly 700 more then we had ever planned to. I wish we had known we wouldn't have signed up for a rent/lease program for a couch we wanted to buy not rent.

We were fully under the assumption that we were purchasing this couch and even bought a warranty. I feel scammed for I truly believed we were buying this couch and paying it off in 6 months not renting this couch for 6 months with an option to buy or keep renting or return it. I would never had signed up for that kind of deal for i wanted to buy not rent/lease. This is scandalous and a scam they say and make you believe in one thing but really it's another and now its too late when we find out. Bummer for Sears outlet, be honest and make sure people understand what you are signing them up for! You just lost us as future customers and anyone I can tell about it for i don't want others to get tricked!
