Radio Shack
Cortez Spring Hill, Florida, USA

Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We purchased a modem from Radio Shack (only because they were the only store around that carried it).Well, it broke, so we brought it in to get a replacement.

Guess what? They no longer carry them. Ok. Fine.

We'll get our money back and order online from elsewhere. Guess what? They will give us a refund-for a store credit only! What?!

One of the reasons we don't shop there is because they have such a limited selection and their items are overpriced by others by as much as a 25% markup. Well, now here it is months later and I still can't find anything they carry that I need or want that I can't buy elsewhere cheaper. Even at Christmas-time and for a last minute gift! This is ridiculous.

I know why they do it-because they know that otherwise people won't come back. The are basically holding my money hostage to their inventory/prices.

I don't care if they are the last store on earth-I will never buy there again.Pure and Simple Fraudulent Business Practices!

There is NO warranty that will EVER give you MONEY back when you redeem it. YOU are wrong and YOU have expectations that NO COMPANY could EVER meet!! Comparing something YOU have found online VS. brick and mortar store only goes to show that YOU are the problem. Online IS cheaper but it doesn't mean you get quality. You are confussing the two different platforms and you are purposefully greying the lines to justify your argument. I chose RadioShack because YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! Your being frugal has NOTHING to do with this issue. Ok we get it, YOU ARE CHEAP!!! No that doesn't ispire me, it SICKENS me!! People like YOU will always use assumption as fact. YOU have assumed something so it MUST be fact. REALITY is that RadioShack did EXACTLY what they are supposed to do. I KNOW you were offered to find said item. YOU chose not to WAIT!! So whos fault is THAT??Hmmmmm?? So YOU end up with a gift card for the EXACT amount YOU paid for the item, but YOU wanted cash. YOU assumed YOU could get CASH. Because they did not give you your way, YOU blast them online. Did you EVEN READ????? YOU were given a small booklet. In that booklet it tells you how you will get back a credit. SO not only have you FAILED as a consumer. YOU have failed to show where RS did ANYTHING wrong OTHER then what YOU have assumed. I repeat "Ghetto" because I call them like I see them. What kind of financial trouble are you in that YOU would put up a post with OMITTED information?? Must be some nasty business. People like YOU are the problem. YOU have put so much faith into that little box that flashes pretty pictures of things you can buy, and YOU have bought into it hook line and sinker!!! Just because you can find something online doesn't mean its going to be the same price in brick and mortar stores. And it doesn't mean that what YOU are buying has ANY quality at ALL!! I challenge YOU to find even ONE warranty that will give you back CASH!! Just one and I will concede that perhaps you MAY be correct. But I know better and YOU know better. THERE IS NO WARRANTY THAT WILL GIVE YOU CASH BACK!!!! And THAT is what YOU wanted. So because YOU didn't get your way, YOU LIED ONLINE TO MAKE YOURSELF A BETTER VICTIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. You have some real issues.

I don't lie and I don't waste my time giving bad reviews that are false. Who really has time for that? Besides you maybe?

I believe that being forced to shop at a store that is over-priced and has nothing I need is wrong. You can disagree and be taken advantage of all you like, but to spew hate for my opinion is warped.

Warranties are there to protect consumers. If your product is covered, you should have it replaced with a similar one and if one is not available, then they should return your money. Period. That's what most people assume they are paying for when they buy a product warranty... Not that you get a gift card to use only at their store-that is for the company's benefit only. [By the way, if I liked the store- I would probably just use my money there anyway.]

I have no ideal what pertinent details you need-it seems pretty straightforward what I wrote and what the issue was. What other information do you need? I bought a dsl modem, it broke, it was covered under warranty, they no longer carried dsl modems, they wouldn't give money back- only a "store credit", which I haven't been able to use. They were friendly about it, but it doesn't change the facts about the company policy.

They are OVER-PRICED! Compare it! Try a google search and enlighten yourself. Really-do that. I googled 10 items, I thought I might use the credit on, that was offered at Radio Shack and the same, exact item from the same, exact manufacturer was cheaper elsewhere. Why should I pay $10 or even a $1 more for something from RadioShack?! Especially when I know if it fails I could be doing the same thing again?! Look it up. Get your facts. Frankly, I'm really surprised they are still in business....

I almost exclusively shop at Amazon now, why? Because the prices cannot be beat for the same exact items, the shipping is free, items can be covered under SquareTrade - the absolute best warranty program I have ever seen, and they have honest reviews from verified purchasers.

Ok, you love radio shack-good for you. You like to pay top dollar for an item, while I use common sense and the open market to get the best deals. My frugal purchasing should not offend you- it should inspire you.

I don't go around searching for people that give good reviews and rant on their reviews, tell them they are wrong, call names, etc. That's their opinion and I'm glad they had a great experience. Just because they had a good experience does not negate the fact that I had a bad one, nor does it justify me going onto their review and spouting negativity.

(By the way, I'm not sure what "ghetto mentality" is, but it seems racist to me and you should probably remove it from your vocabulary.)

Or maybe you just have a long list of demeaning names you love to call others who don't share your opinion?

I'm sure you're just a troll that has no life other than trying to make others miserable. Honestly, I usually ignore the hate spouted by trolls, but in order to make sure other's don't fall for your antics, I figured I would rebut you. It will only be this once. I have no time to play silly games with you and rebut back and forth with you. I have a life.

Consumers need to know the good AND the bad. Take it all into consideration and make an informed decision.

I gave an honest description of my experience so that other consumers can be informed and enlightened. Believe me, if I had known beforehand of this scam, I would have found another business to deal with besides Radio Shack.

By the way, what's wrong with Walmart? I don't expect top of the line electronic merchandise there-most people know better, but you can find some great deals on other things! And seriously-try Amazon. 99% of the time it's less expensive or equal for the same exact thing.

Now you have a happy holiday and best wishes for you to experience enlightenment this year!

So they no longer carry the item you purchased. So when YOU redeem your warranty THEY give you a gift card BECAUSE they cant replace the item directly. So explain to EVERYONE why it is that YOU have no COMMON SENSE. There is NO warranty on the planet that gives you CASH BACK!!!! YOU got a credit. YOU have NOT been ripped off. As a customer of Radio Shack for a lot of years I can tell you that they have ALWAYS bent over backwards to assist me when I had a warranty issue. If they did not have the item to replace it, then they give you EXACTLY what you paid for the item on a gift card. YOU are the problem and NOT RadioShack. YOU are a self entitled boob who thinks the world MUST give YOU your way. Thankfully someone has been able to fill in the gaps or truth in YOUR story. RadioShack has been an excellent company to deal with when it comes to MY warranty issues. Its wrong of YOU to blast THEM when not only did you get back what you paid for it, but then you have the nerve to blast THEM because YOU have issues. Its a SHAME that people like you continue to exist. YOU should be ashamed of yourself and your parents would be ashamed of the self entitled spoiled child THEY raised. First you OMIT pertenent details that would not only show YOUR failings, but you then toss in YOUR opinion in order to justify the online rant you have made. When the reality is YOU are the problem because there is NO warranty that gives you back CASH!!! THAT is what YOU are whining about. That YOU redeemed the warranty and THEY wouldn't give you CASH to help bail YOU out of whatever financial situation you are currently in. Grow up you child!!!! And do the web and the whole world a favor and get some COMMON SENSE!!! People like you are sickening in the depth of your ignorance. YOU play a horrible victim and YOU LIE ONLINE!!!!! Yep, you really are not a nice person. And in life you get what you pay for. YOU are so used to walmart and their cheap product that YOU wouldn't know quality until you had to pay for it. I still have electronics from the 1980s that is from RadioShack. Can you say that about ANYTHING you buy from walmart? Oh that's right!! YOU CANT!!!!! I understand trying to save where you can, but to blast THEM because YOU ARE CHEAP, truly goes to show the depths of your ghetto mentality.
