Public Storage They rifle through your belongings Troy Michigan
After the death of my mother, my wife and I decided it necessary to store some of her belongings until we could find the proper venue to sell or dispose of them. We chose Public Storage on Maple road in Troy, Michigan. They required us to purchase a lock from them. It came with 2 keys. I kept one and my wife the other.
We put several tables, chairs and other furniture in the storage room, locked it and left. Two months later, we decided to see exactly what we had in there so we could catalog it. When we went back, my key no longer fit the lock. I went to the office and I was informed they had dug up and replaced the blacktop next to my storage room and they had to replace the lock. They gave me the new key. I went to the area of my room and noticed there had been nothing done to the cracked blacktop in and around my room. I became suspicious and did not trust them with my belongings. We took half of the items out on one day and removed the rest two days later. The room was empty but we still had 20 days left on our montly rent so we thought we'd wait and see if we needed to bring anything back to store. A few hours after we emptied the room we got a call saying they noticed we didn't have anyrthing in the room and wondered if everything was OK. So . . . . . apparently they immediately opned our room to see what we had or hadn't done. That's when they lost my trust completely. we cancelled the agreement and took the lock with us (since we paid for it). Don't rent space from Public Storage unless you want them to rifle through it daily.
