I"m amazed how Progressive operates, After 15 years with GEICO, I switched to Progressive with three vehicles. One of the vehicles had a mechanical issue about a month after switching., I used the ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE APP that was downloaded on my phone. I PAID EXTRA FOR ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE JUST FOR PEACE OF MIND.
The vehicle was towed 2.2 miles down the road to a dealership. Turns out the repair would be pretty extensive so I used the app and had it towed 2.2 miles back to my house. I Replaced the vehicle with another on the policy and life goes on. I RECEIVED A CANCELLATION NOTICE ? I TURNED ON THE RECORDER FOR MY CELL PHONE AND CALLED THE NUMBER GIVEN. Remarkably for a total cost of approximately $160.00 to have a vehicle towed, they are canceling a new customer.
Obviously the uncaring, over worked and inexperienced individuals that you get on the phone can't distinguish between paying out a claim for and accident vs PAYING FOR A TOW TRUCK THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALREADY PAYING FOR WITH THE ADDITIONAL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE ADDED TO THE POLICY.
I have two recorded calls ONE OF WHICH WAS SENT THE THE NJ STATE DEPT OF BANKING AND INSURANCE ALONG WITH THE COMPLAINT.. I'll forward the second once the state contacts me regarding the complaint. Its amazing this is the garbage underlying Progressive's advertising. They need to check out their own Codes of Business Conduct & Ethics
Since NJ is about as corrupt as Afghanstan, Not sure if any state offices will actually do anything but a citizen has to hope some integrity may still exist in this world.

If this problem you had is not covered by a warranty, why on earth are you so willing to take it to a dealer??? Ask around and find a good, experienced independent shop and take it there! If you go to a dealer YOU WILL be PRICE GOUGED.
Their "mechanics" are nothing more than parts changers who's job is to run up the bill so they can earn a bigger commission! You don't need this garbage! Again, never ever consider going to any dealership for non-warranty service. Find an experienced independent shop!

As of today, I received a call from one of Progressive's Managers that they will be pulling back the policy cancellation .
Once I receive that in writing I'll update the report.
