We are a retired senior couple that thought it would be a good idea to shop around for a re-finance of our home mortgage and try to get a lower interest rate/monthly payment, and that would allow us some money to travel on around the states.

My husband spoke ta an Agent from Proficio Mortgage and exlained just what we wanted to achieve.  He indicated that that wouldn't be a problem.  We did not want an appraisal as there are no other properties in our area that compare with our setup.  My husband also asked as to what the charges for this re-finance would be.  The Agent wouldn't/couldn't give us a figure.

My husband gave the Agent all of the information required to process our application and then he indicated that we shouldn't make any more payments as this wasn't going to take very long to get approved.  This concerned us greatly, but the Agent assurred us that it wouldn't hurt our credit rating.  The Agent still couldn't give a figure for the cost of this process.

We were not contacted for almost 3 months and were receiving phone calls about our unpaid home mortgage.  This was very distressing.  We even ignored phone calls that we knew were from our current lender.  My husband made numerous phone calls to Proficio Mortgage and was told to be patient, that it was only a couple more days.  In desperation, my husband contacted our current lender and made provisions to make our payments over the phone.

We finally received a phone call from a Notary to come to our home that evening, 5PM.  She was hired to bring the documents for us to sign for our re-finance.  She was so kind and friendly and it was so late, we were so releaved that we were finally signing the loan documents and didn't take the time to look through the documents like we should have.  We just TRUSTED and SIGNED.

We have since learned that Proficio Mortgage has charged us over $10,000 to sign up for our new mortgage, and that was tacked onto our total loan amount.  Neither one of us will be around when this mortgage is finally paid off in 30 years.  BEWARE!!! Beware of people that talk such a good talk that you begin trusting them as we did.
