False Advertising among other things A down payment is still needed. The material only gave general suggestions at "creative" ways to go about getting the down payment.

We grew suspicious when at least half of what we saw on the DVD's was more of the same testimonials one would hear while watching the advertising.

We read alot of the information and found that most of what we read was simple and general information that we found on the Internet for free.

The forms were simplistic and again, can be easily found on the Internet. Many of the forms could easily be made on MS Word.

When I called to return the package I was kept on the phone while being made repeated price-cutting offers if I would keep the program. I had to threaten to record the call and send a copy to the BBB before a return authorization number was issued.

Bottom line in our opinion = SCAM

We are embarrassed we fell for it! We hope you don't...

i find it funny that people honestly think that you can buy real estate with no money down, i personally know some one that owns 50 rental properties. He has never purchased any of these real estate courses. It is your own fault that you lost money. You could have easily talked to a small real estate broker in your area to find out how to invest in real estate. I cant but help but laugh at you all....

im glad you got scammed it is your own fault of not doing any due dillegence.

Look at it this way that money you spent on the program, that money could have gone to a down payment on a house..lol... i cant help but laugh, you honestly think a bank is going to loan money to a person with bad credit, a job that wont be able to pay 2 mortgages. If you do you deserve to get scammed.

My Experience with Carlton Sheets Home Study

#3Consumer Comment

Mon, December 14, 2009

I had a great experience with the Carlton Sheets Home Study real estate course.  I bought the program in 1986 for a very reasonable price.  The course paid for itself many times over.  The knowledge I gained about comps helped me to buy my first home in 1986.   I bought a home for less than the tax appraisal value and I bought it for the least $/per sq foot of all homes sold in my area for the previous two years.  In fact, my insurance broker told me that "I stole the house" meaning that I did very well on my first home purchase.   As with any course, you must read, study, absorb, and apply the teachings in order to be successful with the results.  You must do your part.  Just buying a course alone will do you no good if you do not apply it.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad Author Endorses Carleton Sheets

While I empathize with the complaint I think its fair to give another observation.

I recently bought and read the book titled "The Real Book of Real Estate" by Robert Kiyosaki. Mr. Kiyosaki is most famous for the book he authored "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". Mr. Kiyosaki often appears on PBS to pitch his book, his program to raise funds for PBS. Many in the real estate investment world say Mr. Kiyosaki has a great program.

In the book The Real Book of Real Estate several authors write about various topics on which they are experts. Carleton Sheets authored the chapter "No Down Payment". Mr. Kiyosaki writes in the opening of each chapter a comment supporting the chapters author.

In Do Down Payment Mr. Kiyosaki writes about Carlton Sheets Mr. Kiyosaki writes "I bought his program, and it is one of the smartest investments I have made". He goes on to write "Carleton and Rich Dad are cut from the same bolt of cloth". He concludes "Today, Carleton and I work together with the Professional Education Institute. PEI does a fabulous job for anyone who is serious about their financial future".

While I have not purchased Carleton Sheets program(s) nor do I work for PEI I do find it interesting that a well respected individual such as Robert Kiyosaki would endorse Carlton Sheets when there are several complaints against PEI.

This is just an observation.

Michelle hit the nail on the head. I have been reading these reports labelling Carlton Sheets a scam. 1st off. If these people had taken the time to actually read the material... they would think differentlly. For instance, in the book it explains if you cannot qualify for no money down.... start an investors club. You can get a few friends that might have better credit than you, but not the drive that you posses to be able to steer an investment. P.S. Break the mold. Start thinking for yourselves out there. Rent the movie "matrix". I firmly believe that if you can learn how to swim, you can learn to dive. If you can learn to dive in to a sea of uncertainty, you are an entreprenuer!

Carton Sheets- Positive Experience

#6Consumer Comment

I ordered the Carlton Sheets course and found it useful. I agree that quite a bit of information can be found on the internet for free, but what information can't be found on the internet today. The material was presented in a clear concise manner. I didn't have to search on the internet for hours to find it. As a real estate investor, I was aware of some of the techniques that Mr. Sheets presents. However, some of the material was new and presented additional creative ideas to utilize in my investing. Please be advised that most things that are taught from an entrepreneurial standpoint are still going to require creativity, thought, and work on any individual's part. I have no financial interest in Mr. Sheets company, but feel that a forum like this should be fair and if one has a positive experience with a company that should be presesented as well since there is such a proliferation of information on the internet today. Thank you for this forum.
