I am currently seeking employment and have my resume posted on several different sites, such as monster & hotjobs. Anyway, this morning I get a call from John (no last name by the way) calling about a job opportunity with his company and when can I come interview! Boy that was quick!

We set up a time for next week and I ask him to tell me more about the position. He tells me that they are a financial services group and the are looking for employees that are people oriented and that they will get more into that at the interview. So, OK! My next step is to hop on the computer and do some research, which brought me to this website and I read all of the feedback.

So, I decided to call John back and get some more information. John tells me that this company has several branches in Fort Wayne and is looking to expand and open more and they are currently looking for full-time and part-time employees.

OK--so what will these part-time and full-time employees be doing? He reminds me that they are a financial services company and that they are a division of Citigroup, and he informs me that Citigroup is the largest business organization in the world!! WOO h*o!!

So, at this point, I inform John that I want to cancel my interview. And he asks me why and I tell him that I did some research on the company and that I discovered a lot of negative things about this company. He asked me if it was fair to say that anybody can post anything on the internet whether it be true or false, I agreed, but then asked him why he was unwilling to tell me more specifics about the position.

He became verly defensive and said they do an hour long presention during the interview and he does not want to waste an hour on the phone doing it now. WAY TO RECRUIT! I WAS IN NO HURRY. I HAD AN HOUR! SO, I told him that I was not looking for the long detailed described, but the short one or even a job title would be helpful. At that point he could not answer me and accepted my cancellation.

These people have no clue and try to sell future employees based on the fact that they are a division of Citigroup... Citigroup should drop them!!!

I represent Primerica and Citigroup through an independent business agreement. This means that I and every other PFS representative are self employed. My association with Primerica is entrepreneurial. I own my own business, which markets the products and services of the many Citigroup companies. Primerica is a marketing division. That said, the actions and procedures utilized by one representative cannot be accurately used to describe how we all market the products and services of Citigroup. Before writing her negative report on one individual representative in Ft. Wayne, Kim did not even bother to attend the interview. She simply looked for a negative opinion of the company and then determined that she was the victim of a major "recruiting scam". I cannot give much credance to the report since the writer did not bother to learn about the company or products in question. Kim's experience was probably for the best. Primerica is definitely not for everyone. It requires a lot of effort to be successful. It is not a get rich quick scam. But I can empathize with John, the Ft. Wayne representative in question. He was likely looking for people to staff his office and, when confronted with such negative resistance, probably decided that Kim would not be worth the effort to recruit and train. It is unfortunate that Kim perceived John's telephone manner to be evasive or in some way deceptive. The truth of the matter is that Primerica offers such a wide array of products and services that it just is not practical or effective to attempt the description over the phone. John was offering Kim an opportunity to earn some extra income and possibly start a new career as her own boss. She did not seem to appreciate the offer. No problem. The reasons I decided to market Citigroup products through Primerica are as follows: 1. The products and services are rated high across the board by independent rating indecies. Had Kim performed some legitimate research through independent third parties, she would have learned that Primerica and the other Citigroup companies are very respected in their fields. I believe that one must first attain the respect of ones peers to be successful in business. Offering competetive and often superior products is the best first step. Citigroup did not become the worlds largest company by scamming people out of their time or money; 2. We teach clients how money works and help them develop plans to get out of debt. This is a good thing! This leaves the clients feeling good and me feeling good that I could help. And I have never felt the need to force a product on a client. They come to me and I show them what we can do for them. It's up to them from there. When you offer good products, the sales usually follow; 3. The market for financial services is growing fast. Here in Las Vegas I cannot keep up with demand. Therefore, I must prospect new representatives whom I can train and set up in business. I'm looking to train 10 people whom I can set up in business. These people will likely earn in excess of $100,000 simply by following an established system. And they will earn this by helping people get out of debt and establish a plan to retire with a respectable lifestyle. Kim obviously did not bother to fully research Primerica. She simply looked for the negative and reacted. I would recommend to anyone interested in starting a business of any kind that they should talk with people who both failed and succeeded in that business before they form a solid opinion. Self employment is not for everyone. Those who succeed do so because they work at it. Those who fail usually make excuses and sling mud. Misery does indeed love company. That's why I opt to associate with positive people. They are usually more successful in life.
