Pepboys Pleasant Hill - consumer Auto repair ripoff Misrepresentation / Negligence
I took my Honda CRX to PepBoys Pleasant Hill for a "preventative maintenance" service for a timing belt and water pump in September 98. According to Honda, the timing belt and water pump need not be replaced for another 90,000 miles. July 2000, less than 3,000 miles, the water pump and timing belt went out in my car ressulting in valve damage.
Pepboys advises that the water pump and timing belt are no longer under warranty, however, they will replace the parts - but not the labor. PepBoys acknowledges that the water pump they initially installed was not a "quality" part as they represent, but rather "below grade." Furthermore,PepBoys acknowledges and confirms that the water pump was defaulty and caused the timing belt to slip/fail - resulting in valve damage to my vehicle.
PepBoys recommends that I pay for the cost and service of a new VALVE COVER ... and advises that there may be "valve damage." Pepboys states that they are not liable and will not be responsible for the damages - and/or costs with respect to a new engine.
Additionally, Pepboys states that I will not be able to prove them liable and/or hold them responsible for the destruction of my engine.
This is completely unacceptable - as well as misreprensentation and negligence.
