I booked a rental car through Expedia for $121.36 which according to the confirmatio included taxes and fees. When I got to the Payless Car Rental counter in San Diego I was told that there was also goingto be a $200 deposit required. I was told that the deposit would be refunded to me once the car was returned. The receipt I have from them clearly states in to places that there was a deposit of $200.14
Whn the final bill came my debit card was charged $200.14. I contacted Payless as I naturally though the mixed up the deposit and the rental payment. I was informed by them that we were charged $200 for the deposit which they had already retuedn to our card and that the $200.14 was the charge for the rental.
I contacted Expedia to complain about the over charge adn was told by them that there can be a difference between the price on their site and what si paid at teh counter due to taxes and fees. I asked them how that can be when my confirmation receipt from them states right on it that the price includes taxes and fees and even has it listed as a line item.
Had I know the true cost of this rental I woudl have gone somewhere else as there were other options cheaper than $200.14
This is a bate and switch and Expedia is just as liable for this as Payless Car rental is
