The Pasadena Post office is the worst in America. It got so bad that I had to take down my mailbox. I would never get my mail and always got neighbors mail. Finally, I had them hold my mail at the post office and still they would just give my mail to my neighbors. I have complained many times and just get told that it is a new carrier or the bins where they sort the mail are too small. We used to have a very tiny post office (1/4) the size of PPO and never had any problems. Ever since they opened up this huge post office, I cannot receive any mail at my home like a normal tax paying citizen of the US. I have now had to resort to paying $60 a year for a Post Office Box. I've have never seen anyone screw up the mail as bad as they have. If you live in Pasadena, and have had similar problems (guarantee that you have) then please post them here. I have filed complaints with the main post office and no one seems to do anything. I have spoken to several people in Pasadena and ALL have had problems with this PO from one time or another.

Derek - It's now late 2015.  I filed several formal complaints in 20015 and before. I'm STILL waiting to hear any response :(

To all of those who have posted problems with the Pasadena Post Office on this post, I would like to offer a little bit of insight. First, I would like to start with the person who wondered why certain people get their mail at 9AM and others have to wait until later. Unfortunately this is a sad fact of life that when you are delivering mail to over 500 boxes per day, some people will get their mail first, and others later. Furthermore, as someone who has had difficulty getting my own mail, even though I have grown up in a postal family. ( Grandfather on my Fathers Side, Grandmother on my Mothers side, Both Parents, and two Uncles have all worked for the post office, and not just as carriers. My grandfather was the second in command to the postmaster general, so I get some decent information. Because mail is delivered six days a week, and Postal Workers are off 2 days a week, 1 day a week is covered by a substitute mail person. While it may appear to be easy to cover deliver mail, you must consider the massive amounts that are being dealt with, and the fact that it does indeed take time for a carrier to become comfortable with their routes, and to be aware of the nuances that each route carries. While this is certainly no excuse for poor service, I feel it is an opportunity to display a little bit of compassion for your fellow man, I'm sure none of us stepped into our jobs and performed perfectly right away, and I'm also certain that with our mistakes we would rather someone talk to us so we can right them as opposed to screaming at our boss. To those who complain about having to use the Curtis Beach Post Office, that is not a factor that is determined by the local post office but by levels of upper management, while I certainly understand the frustration that would cause, demolishing the post office and starting over, would only leave you more bitter with what those in Pasadena and Anne Arundel County had, as it would still not service your area. Just like any business there are factors to consider here folks, the mail should arrive at the post office either over night or by the latest early that morning, while there are post masters who will hold mail, in order to boost their carriers times, and to make themselves look good in the process, this is highly illegal, and when found out, these persons are usually punished severely, usually termination and legal action, however if the mail is not received in the post office on time, it will be late going out, either for delivery or for Post Office Boxes. Quite simply, Postal Workers can't deliver what they don't have. While there are many lazy, uncaring postal workers, the ration probably isn't that much different then what you have at your own company, and it should be plain that all it takes is one bad apple to ruin the majority of good hard workers. So the next time you are fretting because it's 3 PM and your mail hasn't arrived, take a look at the vehicles the postal employees are driving, in the summer I have personally witnessed temperatures in the 120 degree range inside those vehicles, in the winter below freezing temperatures, and little to no protection from wind and rain. These postal workers sacrifice their bodies, and their comfort to deliver the mail, and the majority of them do so with great passion for the job.

P O Box Problems

I too have had problems with the Pasadena Post Office. I am a PO Box holder of 4 years and have complained on at least several occassions about not getting my mail on time. These seem to be a Customer Care Service Issues that the Post Master deems to not address, and makes it seem like the extra service I Pay for is not a valued service. My biggest complaint is there is a sign posted on the wall in the PO Box section that states mail will be up in the PO boxes by 10:00 AM. On most days I can check the PO Box at 10:00, 12:00, 2:00 only to get my mail if any by any time after 2:00 on most days. I receive advertisements for sales with expiration dates 3 to 5 days after the sale is over. This is not fair to the companies that are holding the sales events and pay to have bulk mailings made by a certain date. I have gone as far as to contact these companies and inform them when I received their mailings, only to be told that they mailed them out 2 weeks in advance. I have mailed out bulk mailings (Pasadena To Pasadena) only to receive them 7 to 10 days later. This makes you wonder where this mail went for 5 days? The management at Pasadena Post Office only gives you lip service when you call or stop by to complain and Customer Service only says they will check into this. The same things happen year after year with no resolve. I have given up on the Post Office delivering mail in a timely manner, but there is no other alternative.

I am what is referred to as an "MPE Mechanic" for the Richmond Post Office. Unfortunately, what you are experiancing is not uncommon. Even I get wrong mail. The proper thing to do would be to put the wrong mail back into your mailbox and put your flag up for the carrier. Then proceed to file your complaints in a civilized and polite manner. As far as you being a tax paying citizen, taxes you pay have absolutley no bearing on the USPS whatsoever. We are the ONLY profit producing government entity in the US (no you IRS goons, don't even try it). The USPS is taking great strides in trying to automate the way mail is sorted. We are an industry like no other therefore the technology required is unlike that which any other company uses, even our competitors in the parcel and package businesses. But the technology is far from perfect. My suggestion would be to put your mailbox back up and get to know your carrier. I used to be a carrier when I first started, and it has to be probably the hardest job in the Post Office because everything you do is in the public and scrutinized every day. I understand you may be at wits end, but please consider what I have posted here.

I've lived in Pasadena pretty much my whole life. I often wonder why some people get their mail delivered at 9:00 a.m. in the morning (my mother), BUT I get my mail at 3:00 in the afternoon. And it seems to come later and later as the years go by... I have had other people's mail in my box, some of my mail going to other people's houses. And to visit the post office, well, it's just like Mayberry RFD I always say. Two employees at the counter, moving slow, slow, slow.

We also received the same excuses....new carrier, etc.,. They must go through alot of carriers. We also had to get a PO BOX @ the ppo but they manage to give us other peoples mail at least once a month. A credit to them that is alot less than when we had delivery. Our mail could be two to three houses down. Do you wonder why people use email and computers to pay their bills????

I live in the Stoney Beach community in Pasadena. I am well within Anne Arundel county. My community was built in 1990. The pasadena post office said that they could not handel the new 400 home community and there four forcing us to use the Curtis Bay post office. It has been such a problem trying to explain to people that you live in Pasadena in Anne arundel county but have to use the Curtis bay post office in Baltimore county. We have had so many problems with being charged both countys taxes and the list goes on. Curtis bay is a tiny city that is a street of strip clubs and drug dealers. I paid allot of money for my home and hate using Curtis bay as part of my adress. I really think they should tear down the pasadena office and start from scratch hire more people and provide better service.

It is so refreshing to see someone in the Postal Service with your attitude, as my experience has been that it is generally opposite. You are correct in saying that a person with mail delivery issues SHOULD complain, but I would like to add that they should go through the USPS website, as complaining locally usually doesn't help. Fortunately, when I was teaching for awhile last year, one of my student's wife was the Customer Service Manager for our region and she stayed on it and got the problem rectified. In fact, where we were getting mail between 6 and as late as 8 pm, we now routinely get it around noon.

bad mail service is not right!

To whom it may concern, I'm a carrier in jacksonville fl. If the p.o. there is so bad, you should keep complaining. I could never let my customers keep getting bad service like that. Sure we all make mistakes, but if you had to get a po box just to get your mail, then there is something really wrong with that. We have a saying in the p.o. "The skweeky wheel gets the oil." So if you complain enough over and over again, sooner or later they are going to flag your box as a "caution delivery point" just to shut you up. If that doesn't work, than try bribery. If you give your carrier some cookies for christmas he'll remember your name and address. "Please no poison in the cookies!" HA HA. With the invention of automated mail, service has gone down drasticly. The machine just doesn't know the right address and the carrier should catch this and correct it. So don't give up and i'm sure every thing will turn out fine. If not then move to my route. I'll make sure you get your mail! Happy Holidays! KT
