Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Do you enjoy bland food served in a pretentious setting by snooty waitresses? Do you enjoy overpaying for this sort of product? If you answered a hearty "yes" to the previous queries, you'll LOVE the Palace Kitchen.

Though there were plenty of tables right by the PK's open windows, the haughty hostess stuck us out of sight in a cramped nook. I was bitter until I saw all the bums walking by pestering the windowside diners for food and/or money. Three members of the waitstaff and the manager stood and watched the panhandling and grinned like monkeys eating lemons.

Our waitress would have been pleasant were it not for the bottle of Ritalin she washed down with a gallon of espresso on her way into work.

Our appetizer (some type of chicken, fried I think) was decent, except it cost 12 dollars and was delivered (I swear) less than two minutes after ordering it. That's quicker than KFC. You would think that paying 4 dollars per piece of chicken I would be entitled to have it cooked fresh when I ordered it. Maybe they were trying to get us the hell out of there.

My girlfriend had the trout. It was served whole. As unnerving as having your dinner look at you is while eating it, our ADD waitress creeped us out further when she asked "Have you eaten a whole fish lately?" Did we look like orcas?

The bill for this rubbish was seventy+ dollars. WHAT A RIPOFF!!!

I agree with the original poster: Palace Kitchen is an overrated and over-priced s****.. I understand that the respondent is working his way up, and maybe hopes to be on the level of Palace Kitchen owner Tom Douglas' level as a "celebrity" chef one day, but come on!!! Brittany Spears is a "celebrity" singer, yet no one is comparing her to Mozart. I also find it interesting that the respondent dragged Denny's into it. Denny's is a brand, just like Tom Douglas' name is (and Wolfgang Puck's, and Emeril's, etc), albeit a more successful one. If you're coming to Seattle and looking for a good place to eat, pay the five bucks for a cab to Chinatown or Capitol Hill.

i have eaten at palace kitchen and the dahlia lounge and must say that the food is irreproachable. im also a cook at a fine dining establishment in seattle and must say, if you didn't want fried chicken or whole fish, please read the menu first and ask questions of your server. the chef has worked very hard to build a reputation for quality food and service and i find it hard to believe, having eaten there, that had you communicated your problems, that you might have had a better experience. it sounds to me that fine dining might be a new and intimidating experience for you. perhaps youd find the chicken strips and fish sticks at denny's a more comfortable fit.
