It was moving day and the moving boys arrived to put the furniture and boxes in the truck. I had already paid the full amount before they came so I thought I was all set. David, the one in charge had all the paperwork. He said he would start with the boxes first then the furniture. So far so good. Then everything changed. David told me I was going to have to pay more if my furnitue was to make the move as well as the boxes. I was shocked. He called his boss, Eido

Eido, the owner, came down to talk to me. He said since we had done a square footage rather than weight I went over the alotted amount and I would have to pay an additional $450.00 to be able to take my curio cabinet and a couple of dressers. What could I do. I agreed.

Eido and the boys packed up the curio cabinet, glass shelving and everything was put into the truck. I had to take a few more things myself in order to not pay more than the $450.00 so I took the glass to the coffee table my computer and a small TV., my vacuum cleaner and whatever boxes would fit into the car. These were originally planned to be moved when Eido came to do the estimate. I was so upset because I had to take all of that extra stuff with me. David told me I would have everything that following Sunday.

I planned my road trip to meet the movers on that day sunday came and went and no movers showed up. I called Ori on Monday and talked to Lindsy. She told me that David should not have told me Sunday because the furniture was still in California. I was Livid. I am disabled and did not have my power wheel chair with me. Not only that but I was told that it would be at least 2 weeks before I got my stuff because they had to put it with another load going to the same state. Here I was no wheel chair no furniture and left stranded.

Fortunately my friends came to my rescue. My furniture finally came the following month. When the movers , Universal Moving, were delivering the boxes and furniture my neighbow and I were sitting in the front patio. Everything was put inside. I noticed that the boxes looked smashed. Some had one whole side kicked in and others looked as if they had been kicked in. There was no wheel chair and the boys dropped my curio cabinet right at the front door when they were lifting it up over the threshold. When it fell the said oooppps!!! When they unwrapped it it was all smashed. All the mirrors broken and a big chunk out of the wood on the bottom.

When I asked where the wheel chair was the mover told me that he saw it at the wharehouse and because it was the weekend and nobody was there he would call me the next day. He said to sign the slips and he would personally get it to me the next day. Trusting him I signed everything and they left. I never heard from them again.

When I called Ori and the Universal the following Monday noboady knew anything. I had to explain the entire situation to them. The owner or manager of Universal said he would check the wharehouse because he thought he had seen the chair there. The wheel chair was bright candy apple red and brand new so it was very noticeable. To this day all I kept hearing from Universal is that the wheel chair was delivered to another person by mistake and that they were waiting for that person to call them back. I never once got a call back from Ori to apologize or inquire how I was doing without my wheel chair.

As the weeks went by and I started unpacking boxes I found most of my things broken. I could not believe that I had paid these people to use my personal stuff to kick around. I was devisated. My entire life I had moved all over the country and have never seen damages like I was seeing here. After I finished unpacking, I noticed that there were 10 missing boxes. I had no kitchen pots and pans or baking things. Thise boxes were never delivered. I was missing all my Christmas decorations and lights. I was missing my clothes poles, my books and some of my pictures. I just sat there and cried. All my beautiful things either smashed or missing. How could they be so inconsiderate.

I never did a call back explaining what happened. Eido got his money and he never cared about anything else. I called two or three time a week and left messages with Lindsey. A couple of times I did manage to speak to her but she only told me that she would tell Eido to call. Of course he never did.

The Universal moving comapny that Ori used in southern Californiua told me that there was nothing they could do. I even asked them if I could call the people that they thought got my missing stuff. They told me no. I know these things were stollen and sold but I cannot prove it.

Please investigate your movers. Call real people for references and avoid what happened to me. Theresa San Jose,CA
