4 weeks ago I had to get my dog spayed. She is pretty viscious when it comes to vets (what dog isn't?), so Dr. Bower told me that I need to be there to "hold her hand" while they administered the anesthetic.

When I went up to Secretary Rita to make my appointment, I was told by Dr. Bower to inform her that I would need to assist with the anesthesia.

She argued with me, told me that he NEVER said that because he's never done that before. Needless to say, my husband is the one that went up there the morning of Cheyenne's surgery and he DID assist.

Secondly, this morning (1-26-05) I called Oak Ridge Animal Center to make an appointment to have 2 puppies checked out so I can send them on a plane to the East coast this Saturday.

Again, Dr. Bower told me that he WILL sign a Certificate of Acclimation stating that the puppies will be all right below 45* going to and from the airplane.

When I called, little miss Rita told me that Dr. Bower will not sign the certificate and he never told me that he would. Then she told me that the airline wouldn't ship them either.

We called the airline last night and we were told that the first "warm" day will be on Saturday, but they will be able to ship them.

Rita told me that I never did call the airline, they wouldn't ship them, and that Dr. Bower would not sign the certificate.

Could this be why she's a desk jockey and not an actual vet? This lady needs to be told how ignorant she is. I just don't understand how they keep her around the office.

When my husband called to complain about her this morning, she hung up on him.

Someone like this should NOT be allowed to work in an environment where communication with other people is unavoidable.

Thankfully she's not the animal caretaker, or I'd fear for the lives of my dear dogs & cats.

I went to the vets office today and talked to Dr. Bower about little miss Rita. Coincedentally she was off today, but the issue has been resolved. He did indeed sign the Certificate of Acclimation AND the Health Certificate needed to ship my puppies. I just hope this lady doesn't harrass anyone else. Needless to say, the vet tech that was behind the counter today took it upon herself to let me know what a b***h this lady was. Dr. Bower said that she was just following procedure, but he did apologize for her behavior. I'll take that, considering everything went the way I knew it was supposed too.
