NorthStar Locations Navient College Loan ripoff- 7 years after this loan was supposedly due, they contacted me to pay it off. They called my mother, my mother's friends and anyone they could find with any remote connection to me and harrassed them. Cheekowago New York
I left college 7 yeas ago without graduating due to financial and emotional difficulties. My mother has been paying off legitimate school loans from Parent Plus and Mohela and is almost finished with these payments. I have since gotton married and had a baby. Yet, approximately 1 month ago, my mother and my mother's friends began getting harassing phone calls stating that this was a debt from Sallie Mae that had been turned over to a debt collector. I, nor my mother, ever received any correspondence from Sallie Mae indicating where or when this loan had originated. When I spoke to them on the phone, they told me they could reduce the dept from 14,000 to 4,000 but only if I pay it immediately. I cannot afford to pay $4, much less $4000 and certainly not immedicately. I saw on the Internet that this company has been sited for fraud previously. I do not believe I owe this money and believe this is a RIPOFF. Thank you.

You can go to NSLDS . ed . gov. and see exactly what student loans you owe. It may be one you forgot. It happens. Good luck!
